Elon Musk rides Epstein truth train — questions how client arrest counter ‘still zero’

"Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison for what exactly?"

Elon Musk shared an X post seeming to question the Trump administration’s narrative that no evidence exists proving Jeffrey Epstein trafficked girls to third parties. Though somewhat out of context, Musk posted shortly after newly released Epstein documents contradicted the claim that he only trafficked victims to himself.

Reposting a Teslaconomics post, which read, “Sorry… maybe a dumb question. But if there are Epstein files, videos, and names tied to serious crimes, why hasn’t anyone been arrested yet?” Musk added: “Wow, it’s so crazy the Epstein ‘killed himself’ before realizing he was ‘innocent’ 🙄 And Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison for what exactly? Oh yeah. Epstein client arrest counter is still zero.”

Musk, an on-again-off-again Trump ally, has bucked the president before. But lately, Musk had been on Trump’s side. Musk’s post shows the rift between Trump and the world’s richest man may not yet have completely healed.

The DOJ document drop

Not long before Musk’s post, the U.S. Department of Justice released more than 3 million pages of previously unpublished documents from the Epstein case under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. These files include emails, court records, photos, and other material from federal investigations into Epstein and his long-time associate, Maxwell. The release marked one of the largest disclosures of material related to the disgraced financier’s sex-trafficking network.

Federal prosecutors maintain that the documents provide no grounds for new criminal charges, yet there’s renewed public debate over Epstein’s network and the involvement of powerful associates. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told reporters the Justice Department did not withhold records to protect specific individuals, but the extent of redactions and classifications has drawn scrutiny.

But per The Guardian, many files detail contact between Epstein and influential figures, including communications that suggest Epstein may have “lent out” girls to other powerful men, according to attorneys representing survivors. These civil allegations—distinct from criminal findings—suggest that trafficking to third parties was part of Epstein and Maxwell’s broader operation.

“It is without question that a significant piece of Epstein and Maxwell’s vast sex trafficking operation was to provide young women and girls to other wealthy and powerful individuals,” one survivor’s attorney told The Guardian.

Despite these documents, top Justice Department officials have downplayed the chance that the releases will lead to additional prosecutions. Blanche emphasized that much of the sensational content in the files is unverified and that the department’s review of evidence is completely absent new credible information.

At the same time, this evidence contradicts Trump’s own FBI Director, Kash Patel, who in September 2025 testified before Congress that there is “no credible information” showing that Epstein trafficked underage girls to anyone other than himself. When pressed by Republican Senator John Kennedy on whether Epstein trafficked young women to anyone else, Patel replied flatly that the evidence in the existing case file supported only Epstein himself as the trafficker, adding, “If there were, I would bring the case yesterday.”

Musk’s prior Epstein-Trump criticism

Meanwhile, Musk has been vocal about the Epstein files since at least 2025. In previous posts, he asserted that President Trump’s name appeared in some documents and suggested that this was a reason certain files were not publicly disclosed sooner, an allegation Trump denied and for which Musk provided no supporting evidence.

In the context of the latest release, Musk’s commentary included pointed social media comments from followers that echoed broader frustrations. One said, “He was arrested by the Trump administration,” meaning Epstein, “tried by Trump administration, jailed by Trump administration, and died under Trump administration. You get the drift and Trump is the main suspect in the Epstein files!”

Another user wrote, “Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison for sex trafficking of minors. Can we get her on the dock to tell us TO WHOM?” and “If she’s behind bars for trafficking and providing illegal services, then why is nobody else behind bars for using those services? The evidence is there to convict her, so it has to be there to convict others 🤔.”
