Trump supporting TV presenter Sean Hannity has joined the choir of MAGA “Christians” and criticized Pope Leo XIV’s remarks about the conflict in Iran. Speaking on Fox News Hannity dismissed the pope’s stance and accused him of “spreading left-wing politics.”
Hannity claimed that Pope Leo XIV was more interested in spreading left wing ideals than “the actual teachings of Jesus Christ.” This was said in response to the pope amplifying his condemnation of the Iran war. The pope’s exact words were, “God does not bless any conflict.”
You’ve really got to ask yourself what kind of human being would disagree with such a statement, let alone be offended or angered by it? The answer of course is bad people. Isn’t God supposed to be all-loving? Well not according to MAGA “Christians.”
Hannity states that Pope Leo’s claims were “not biblically accurate” claiming that the Bible contains over 400 references to war and frequently depicts God as “authorizing, commanding, intervening in battles.” Of course, the Bible can be used to argue either side of the argument because it has a lot of conflicting lessons and teachings. There are also plenty of examples of God condemning violence in the Bible too but I guess Hannity’s just going to ignore those parts.
Sean Hannity and MAGA are hypocrites
Hannity’s argument is a classic case of picking and choosing which part of the Bible he’d personally like to follow, also, he isn’t even a practicing Christian! If we’re really going to use the Bible as a strict guide then Donald Trump would be smited for committing all seven of the deadly sins.
It’s also very ironic that Hannity brings up David and Goliath as one of his examples of the Bible endorsing violence, especially when, if you think about it for more than two seconds, the U.S. is definitely not David in this metaphor.
Hannity goes on to ask why the pope is “twisting religion” to specifically attack Trump. What he should really be asking is why are supposed Christians still supporting Trump when the literal Pope is condemning his actions? It’s believed that the Pope essentially has final say on matters of faith and morality and yet people like Hannity have inexplicably placed Trump above him.
But can we really be surprised? Supporters of Trump are a brainwashed cult who are as far from Christianity as one can get. The president literally posted an A.I. generated image of him as Jesus this week and people have defended it. MAGA worship Trump like God which, if you didn’t know, is a sin itself.
Anyways, all this is to say that Sean Hannity and anyone else who defends Trump over the Pope while claiming to be a Christian is a hypocrite. As one person responding to the TV presenter’s rant on X noted, the Pope is just promoting peace while condemning the deaths of innocents, if his stance happens to align with left wing policies then perhaps the left are onto something.
