‘I’ll be sending my lawyers’: Trevor Noah just became Trump’s latest legal target after what he said at the Grammys

"Virtually unwatchable" but he watched it.

President Donald Trump is threatening to take legal action against Trevor Noah after the Grammys host made a joke linking him to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The president posted his response on Truth Social, calling the Grammy Awards “the WORST, virtually unwatchable!”

According to The New York Times, the controversy started when Noah made a comment during the awards show after Billie Eilish won a major award. Noah mentioned Trump’s past interest in buying Greenland and connected it to Epstein’s private Caribbean island.

Noah said: “That is a Grammy that every artist wants almost as much as Trump wants Greenland, which makes sense because Epstein’s island is gone, he needs a new one to hang out with Bill Clinton.” Trump called the statement “false and defamatory” and launched a personal attack on Noah. The president wrote, “Noah, a total loser, better get his facts straight, and get them straight fast.”

Trump’s response shows the sensitivity around Epstein connections

Trump made it clear he plans to sue, writing: “It looks like I’ll be sending my lawyers to sue this poor, pathetic, talentless, dope of an M.C., and suing him for plenty$.” This isn’t the first time Trump has threatened cultural institutions over criticism.

Jeffrey Epstein died in 2019 while in jail in Manhattan. He owned a private Caribbean island where victims say he trafficked underage girls for sex. The Justice Department has released millions of files about the investigation. Trump has always denied any wrongdoing, even though he was close friends with Epstein until the early 2000s.

In his social media post, Trump said he has “never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight’s false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the Fake News Media.” Bill Clinton’s name also appears in the Epstein files. However, Clinton has denied having a close relationship with Epstein and said through his office that he “knows nothing about the terrible crimes” Epstein is accused of committing.

Trump also criticized the show’s political tone. Several music stars spoke out against the federal government’s actions on undocumented immigrants. Trump noted that CBS aired the Grammys for the final time this year, saying the network was “lucky not to have this garbage litter their airwaves any longer.”

His ongoing conflicts with public figures continue to create international diplomatic tensions. Neither Noah nor the Grammys have responded to requests for comment after Trump’s early Monday post. It remains unclear if Trump will actually follow through with his lawsuit threat.
