Screenshots from a locked Reddit forum r/ICE_ERO are circulating online, suggesting that all is not well with the agency, with posts like, “Monday is four weeks since I started and I haven’t been paid yet,” and complaints that the promised lucrative signing bonus is not what it seems.
X account Miss Gender (@girldrawsghosts) shared the posts, which have not been independently verified. Still, one post said the recruit had been with ICE for two months and had still not received health insurance, though he has a sick daughter.
Responding to a query about the promised signing bonus, another post said, “Don’t expect much,” adding that it only adds up to about $6k after taxes because it’s included in their paycheck.
Another post responded to that, saying they hadn’t even been paid their regular pay, much less a paycheck with the bonus included.
No “qualified immunity” for violating “4th Amendment rights”
Meanwhile, in another post that Miss Gender shared, a recent recruit laments learning his in-laws are “illegal” and “awaiting work permits.” A further alleged Reddit post said in part, “I just learned we do not have qualified immunity for violating someone’s 4th Amendment rights,” before asking, “Any chance president Trump will grant every one of us immunity?”
One comment noted, “I asked Grok about this, and the real ICE_ERO is private and there are 2 or 3 parody subs with same name, so keep that in mind when evaluating if what you are reading is real.”
Another comment added, “Yeah, these are totally real ICE agents and not leftists posting as ICE agents, guys.” The forum itself notes: “This community is private and only approved members can view and take part in its discussions.”
Still, Miss Gender said, “Like obviously they’re not recruiting from the rocket scientist bench but how stupid do you have to be to think you’re actually going to get paid by this administration lmao.”
The truth about the promised bonuses
Elsewhere in the thread, someone added, “They didn’t read the fine print, which states they have to be there 5 years in order to get the full bonus,” referring to the promised bonuses of up to $50k with a multiyear commitment that have allegedly yet to appear. The comment continues, “The contract states if they leave before 5 years, they need to REPAY any overtime, bonuses & hotel stays during employment Most won’t be able to afford to quit. It’s a trap.”
After viewing them all, someone else noted the surreal tone of reading ICE agents complain about their jobs. “It’s so jarring to see them talking about a job where they break into people’s houses and kidnap people from school and their workplace as standard operating procedure like it’s a mundane office job,” the comment said.
