First -time Tax filer goes viral for her refund shock that has left her terrified of going to prison

A first-time tax filer has gone completely viral after her tax refund amount left her utterly terrified of going to prison, which, honestly, is a pretty understandable reaction given the numbers involved. The woman, known as Titi or tititheteaplug on TikTok, posted a video recording her computer screen, showing a jaw-dropping refund amount of $904,943. 

According to Newsweek, her immediate reaction was to ask, “Am I gonna go to jail? Like, I’m happy, but I’m scared.” She also wondered if she could even cancel it, adding in the caption, “If all goes well, I might start doing taxes.” 

The video has racked up over 3.5 million views, and many people are just as curious about how she managed it. Many viewers wanted a step-by-step breakdown of her filing process. Some comments were pretty funny, like one person remarking, “Damn, you claiming the town,” highlighting just how unusually large this refund appeared.

Interestingly, some viewers pointed out that if the return was already accepted, it might just be the government’s problem. One person commented, “I mean… they accepted it. So it’s on the [Internal Revenue Service] at this point,” which is a pretty bold take! Another offered a humorous warning, saying, “You good. Keep it under a million to not make it suspicious.” It seems like people are having a field day with her situation.

This viral moment comes at a time when many Americans are actually seeing larger tax refunds this year compared to last. Early filing data shows that the average refund was $2,290, which is up from $2,065 at the same time in 2025. It’s not nearly a million, but it’s still a nice bump!

President Trump’s administration has stated multiple times that tax refunds are expected to be larger this year, even if critics think it may not last. This is due to several adjustments to the tax code that were passed in the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” in July 2025. Of course, the bill has also led to steeper bills in some cases. So, while Titi’s refund is definitely an outlier, the general trend is upwards.

As for Titi, she’s planning to prepare a tutorial to explain exactly how she filed her return. “I will show you guys exactly what the f— I did and how the f— I did it once I figure out what the f— I did,” she said, still sounding a bit bewildered by the whole thing.
