Florida authorities arrested a 56-year-old woman on retail theft charges just days after she appeared as the popular children’s entertainer known as “Ms. Rachel” at a Florida ice cream parlor.
The appearance drew backlash from families who had expected the real children’s TV star to be there. The event poster included a small disclaimer indicating the performer was an “impersonator.”
The purported Ms. Rachel meet-and-greet happened on Feb. 28, 2026, at the Jolly Ice Parlor branch in Hollywood, Florida.
As the line stretched around the block, children and parents quickly noticed that it wasn’t actually Ms. Rachel, but a woman named Meredith Jamie Landers Williams, and shared pictures and footage online, reporting they felt scammed.
The event cost $25 and included photos with Ms. Rachel. Planners used a real picture of Ms. Rachel on the promotional poster.
Ms. Rachel, real name Rachel Griffin Accurso, is a popular YouTube creator known for her “Songs for Littles” videos, teaching speech, language, and early learning skills to babies and toddlers.
“And she would’ve gotten away with it too”
As the controversy went viral, some noted it was an impersonator as advertised, and that it was unreasonable to expect Ms. Rachel to attend an event like that.
One comment noted, “And she would’ve gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for you meddling kids! 😂😂…Nah, but I’m honestly confused. On the flyer it said, Impersonator, and it was FREE Ice Cream, FREE Face painting and activities! Where’s the Scam??” Despite the mix-up, the event proceeded without incident.
Landers arrest
The strange story took yet another twist, though, when, a few days after the ice cream parlor appearance, Broward County police arrested the Ms. Rachel impersonator on suspicion of retail theft. Williams’ current legal status is unclear.
As news of Williams’ arrest spread, comments included, “Bruh this lady was just holding ya’ll babies🥴,” “This look like the Ms. Rachel lady that they was just talking about down in Broward/Miami,” and “Ms Rachel, is that you? 😭😭”
Another comment said, “y’all actually lined up for a fake Ms. Rachel and now she’s Ms. Criminal ? Florida is really out here writing plots for TikTok.”
Ms. Rachel impersonators — not just in Florida
In the children’s entertainment and party industry, performers frequently appear as Ms. Rachel impersonators, though they have no official connection to the real entertainer.
Like the Florida ice cream parlor, venues openly advertise “Ms. Rachel impersonator meet-and-greets,” where a performer dressed like the character sings songs and takes photos with kids.
Parents also regularly ask online about hiring Ms. Rachel impersonators for birthday parties, suggesting a small but active market for look-alike entertainers.
