Vietnam veteran, Navy SEAL, professional wrestler, and former governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura knows a thing or two about courage, and he’s not seeing much of it from MAGA.
Ventura, a longtime critic of Donald Trump, appeared on last night’s episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored to discuss plans to put American boots on the ground in Iran. All indications are that a ground war is about to begin, with military analysts noting a huge deployment of troops and equipment to bases in Israel, Oman, and Jordan.
The objective appears to be to seize the heavily defended Kharg Island and Hormuz Island. Predictions are for a bloody battle with high casualties on both sides, whether the US troops make an amphibious landing or are inserted by helicopter or parachute.
Expect more flag-draped coffins to arrive soon. For Trump, this is no big deal, after all, he’s been very clear that he thinks troops who fall in battle are “suckers” and “losers”. And so, echoing many others, Ventura has said Barron Trump should be leading the charge up the Iranian beaches:

Ventura: "Trump should send his own son first. Barron should serve in US military"
The man who built career on "America First" has never put America first with his own family. He'll send your kids, but not his pic.twitter.com/NlwjRjxVzZ
“There’s a simple thing as a leader, and you know this having been in the military. Trump wouldn’t know it as he’s a draft-dodging coward but anyway it’s this. A war is justified if you’re willing to send your kids. Because how can you send somebody else’s kids to a war if you can’t send your own?”
“A draft-dodging coward”
Ventura continued:
“So I’m calling right now for Barron Trump – he’s had three wives, he’s had kids by each wife, and nobody’s ever served in the military to my knowledge – a Trump in the last hundred years has never done military service. Well Barron, you can change that. Enlist in the United States military right now. Do something your father didn’t have the courage to do. Do something your father didn’t have the patriotism to do.”
Ventura underlined, “I want to see a Trump in the military!”, going on to call out the Trump family for reaping the benefits of the free world without giving anything back.
A common counterargument to this is that this decision is out of Barron Trump’s hands. The youngest Trump stands at a colossal 6’9″. The maximum height for the US Army, Air Force, and Navy is 6’8″, while the Marine Corps is 6’7″, which would seem to rule Barron out of being able to enlist even if he wanted to.
Ventura dismisses that, saying:
“I heard the excuse that Barron might be too tall. Uh-uh. David Robinson served on active duty and he was seven feet tall before he ever went to the San Antonio Spurs basketball team.”
This is indeed true. In the 1980s, Robinson’s 7’1″ height didn’t stop him from enlisting in the US Navy, though it meant he couldn’t serve at sea and instead became a staff officer in the Civil Engineer Corps.
And anyway, I’m sure if Barron was desperate to serve, his Dad could pull some strings as the literal Commander-in-Chief. Of course, much like the rest of his family, Barron will never be within a thousand miles of combat and certainly isn’t going to spend his time being yelled at in basic training.
Like every Trump before him, Barron is destined for a life of luxury. So I’m afraid it’ll be your kids that die in battle instead.
