On March 24th, 2025, Arielle Konig was enjoying her birthday on a hike with her husband, a Maui doctor by the name of Gerhardt Konig, when things took a very serious turn. Within moments, the pleasant hike turned into a fight for survival as Gerhardt tried to push his wife off of the precarious cliff they had trekked up. Now, a year after the incident, Arielle is testifying in Gerhadt’s trial, and her story is harrowing.
Arielle Konig, 37, took to the stand on Tuesday to detail her husband’s brutal attempt on her life. Gerhardt Konig has been accused of attempting to push his wife off of a cliff in Ohau, Hawaii but luckily she survived the attack.
In her testimony, Arielle claimed that she had refused to go up a particularly unsafe section of cliff due to how steep it was. However, when she tried to turn back her husband became enraged, grabbing her and pushing her towards the edge of the cliff before getting on top of her and saying, “I’m so f—ing done with this s—” and “get back over there,” as per People.
Arielle claims that she saw a syringe in Gerhardt’s hand and that he told her to “hold still.” He continued to threaten her, saying, “F— you, you’re done,” and “I’m so sick of your s—.”
Gerhardt Konig’s taunts were chilling
While the attempt on her life was no doubt terrifying in itself, what Gerhardt allegedly said to Arielle doing the supposed attempt was equally as horrific. During her testimony, she claimed that, as she tried to pry his fingers away he told her, “Shut the f— up. Nobody’s gonna hear you out here. Nobody’s coming to save you.”
She even tried pleading with her husband, telling him, “Our kids will be orphans,” and adding, “You’ll go to jail and I’ll be dead, our kids need us.” But Gerhardt was allegedly having none of it, responding, “You’re done. We don’t need you anymore.”
Gerhardt apparently calmed down for a brief moment after she brought up their children before he allegedly began hitting her with rocks. It was at this point that the attack was interrupted by two hikers who responded to Arielle’s calls for help and called 911.
Arielle Konig was left scarred by the incident, she stated that she suffered severe scalp lacerations and showed a large scar on the front of her forehead. Gerhardt Konig is currently standing trial for attempted murder but has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Should he be found guilty of the crime he could be sentenced to life imprisonment.
