‘Jesus doesn’t support genocide!’: JD Vance heckled at TPUSA event, called out for ‘killing children’

Unexpectedly tough crowd...

JD Vance is in a tough spot. Donald Trump is openly beefing with Pope Leo XIV, who last week took exception with the president openly threatening to commit a civilization-ending genocide on the people of Iran. To summarize the Pope’s position: killing a country is not What Jesus Would Do.

Unfortunately for Vance, he’s a committed Catholic, meaning his values should be torn between his boss and his spiritual leader. Vance has tried to shrug this off, saying that “it would be best for the Vatican to stick to matters of morality.” Maybe take your own advice, JD, as this administration is sorely lacking in anything approaching “morality” right now.

Trump’s open mockery of Christ, his deeply unpopular war with Iran, and skyrocketing gas prices have left even conservatives upset with this administration. As a measure of this anger, Vance was even heckled at a Turning Point USA event last night, looking shocked at receiving abuse from a crowd he expected to be friendly.

The heckle came as Vance was trying to explain that Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, would actually be totally down with carpet-bombing civilians. The crowd wasn’t buying it, and Vance appeared surprised when someone yelled out:

“Jesus Christ does not support genocide!”

Vance responded:

“I agree. Jesus Christ certainly does not support genocide, whoever yelled that out from the dark. He does not. I think that’s pretty easy.”

But the heckler returned, yelling, “Why are you committing genocide in Gaza?” It’s a fair point. If Vance supports Jesus, and Jesus “certainly does not support genocide”, why has the United States facilitated Israel’s genocide in Gaza? This time Vance was on somewhat shakier ground:

“When we came in, the humanitarian situation in Gaza was an absolute catastrophe. You know who’s the person who got a peace agreement in Gaza? Donald J. Trump.”

Ah, yes, Donald Trump, famous friend of the Palestinian people. Vance continued:

“Right now, right now, right now, you see more humanitarian aid coming into Gaza than it has in the past five years because we have taken that situation seriously.”

When you’re even heckled at a TPUSA event…

Vance was also heckled by someone who shouted, “You are killing children”. This is somewhat more difficult to counter, as it’s now proven that the Trump administration and the US military bombed a girls’ elementary school at the start of the war, killing 156 people (120 of whom were children).

As far as Vance is concerned, I’m sure Jesus would give a big thumbs up to this as well. After all, if there’s one thing Christ’s gospel is known for, it’s advocating firing high explosives at innocent children. He probably mentions it in one of the more obscure gospels or something.

The reality is that it’s impossible to square the teachings of Christ with waging a bloody war of aggression in the Middle East, and those who have created this situation are likely hellbound. Vance must know this – in fact, it’s known he explicitly told Trump the entire war was a bad idea and he shouldn’t do it – but he’s now complicit and has blood on his hands.

But Vance should be happy to have to deal with this heckler, as one day he’ll have to make the exact same arguments before Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. Somehow, I suspect his line of reasoning that Jesus Christ loves the aerial bombardment of civilians isn’t going to go down so well up there.
