Marjorie Taylor Greene is questioning the difference in how federal authorities are handling the release of information regarding two different shooting suspects.
She has taken to X to voice her concerns over why the manifesto belonging to Cole Allen, the man who opened fire outside the White House Correspondents’ dinner, was made public almost immediately. At the same time, the files related to the Butler shooter, Thomas Crooks, remain under a strict seal.
Greene’s frustration centers on what she perceives as a double standard in transparency. She stated, “I’m 1,000% for releasing the manifesto. I’m for releasing all shooter’s information including what SSRI’s they are on, if any, all meds or drugs. But I want to know why the Trump admin released Cole Allen’s manifesto immediately but they still keep a tight lid on Thomas Crooks.”
To Greene, it isn’t just about transparency for the public. “Thomas Crooks is dead and actually did shoot Trump in the face (ear which is part of the face) so why is all of his info/files totally sealed. It shouldn’t be. Corey Comperatore was killed and his family deserved to know. Two other people were shot and they deserve to know.”
While I agree with her questions, it is getting a bit too paranoid for me now
The situation surrounding Cole Allen is quite different in the eyes of federal officials. NBC News reported that the 31-year-old California teacher and engineer was subdued by law enforcement after rushing a security checkpoint near the Washington Hilton ballroom.
Allen was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and knives at the time of the incident. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche noted on Meet the Press that authorities believe the suspect traveled by train from Los Angeles to Chicago and then to Washington, D.C., before checking into the hotel.
Greene is clearly bothered by many aspects of the situation. She stated, “a lot of info including the manifesto of Cole Allen, who is still alive, gets released immediately,” which stands in contrast to the secrecy she feels surrounds the Butler investigation.
She has been vocal about her skepticism regarding security protocols. “Also, why is the security so lax around President Trump? So much so that even Cole Allen who was there to kill the President, VP, and the Cabinet, even wrote about it in his immediately released manifesto.”
The background of the suspect in the Washington incident adds another layer to the confusion for many observers. Allen was a graduate of the California Institute of Technology and had previously interned for NASA. Former acquaintances described him as a borderline genius who was soft-spoken and polite.
Despite his academic background and work as an indie game developer, he had become increasingly radicalized. His sister informed the Secret Service and local police that he had a history of making radical statements and had been planning to do something to address the state of the world.
In the note Allen sent to his family just minutes before the attack, he apologized for his impending actions and criticized the administration. He explicitly listed administration officials as targets and expressed rage regarding current government policies. His sister also noted that he had participated in an anti-Trump protest in California.
While the investigation continues, Greene is using her platform to keep the pressure on federal agencies. She also had a warning for those engaging with her post, “if you’re in my comments attacking me instead of asking questions, you’re either blindly in a cult or you’re one of the Americans that actually want to see the President assassinated.”
Greene clearly intends to keep pushing for answers. She views the disparity in the handling of these manifestos as a major red flag that the public should be paying attention to right now.
That being said, she has always been skeptical of the credibility of the Butler shooter. Now, a lot of people on the internet, including Trump’s niece, are questioning Allen’s shooting.
Whether or not her demands for the release of the Crooks files will be met remains to be seen, but she is certainly not backing down from her position that the American people deserve the full story.
