Louisville parents hide camera in autistic son’s hair after staff claims the 7yo was aggressive. What they find is ‘unacceptable’ horror

"What I discovered on the camera footage is something no parent should ever have to ever see or hear."

A Louisville mother who was told that her son was acting aggressively has called out the school staff after hiding a camera in her son’s hair and recording the truth. The mother of Semaj’ Lee, an autistic special needs boy, hid the camera in his dreads and uncovered “unacceptable” abuse.

Tiphanee Lee, Semaj’s mother, had received several complaints and calls from staff at Field Elementary regarding her son’s alleged behavior. The complaints went on for months according to the 7-year-old’s parents but it simply did not sound like their son.

Tiphanee knew that there was something unusual about the complaints and so she took it upon herself to get to the bottom of it. Her plan was certainly unorthodox but it proved to be quite genius. She placed a small camera on Semaj’s head, hiding it with his dreads. She then sent the boy to school to record what was really happening within the school walls.

“I ordered a camera to be my son’s eyes, his ears, his voice,” Tiphanee explained as per WDRB. What the mother found on the recordings proved her suspicions to be 100% right. Her son wasn’t the one with behavioral problems. The staff were.

Unacceptable behavior towards Semaj Lee

What the camera caught was deemed outright abuse by Semaj’s parents. In the video, taken on May 13th and subsequently shared online, a woman’s voice can be heard saying she’s going to leave the room for a minute. Then, a male voice can be heard aggressively shouting at Semaj,. Telling him to “get off me now,” followed by a series of sounds as Semaj’s head moves.

“What I discovered on the camera footage is something no parent should ever have to ever see or hear,” Tiphanee stated. “Our child was put in a situation where he was scared, overwhelmed, and powerless.” Eventually Semaj was told to “get away,” followed by more noises before the boy started yelling. “No parent should have to question whether their child is safe at school,” Tiphanee concludes.

The parents of Semaj’ Lee have demanded accountability for the incident. Meanwhile, the incident is currently under investigation and the staff member in the video has been reassigned. However, people online think more needs to be done, “I hope she sues the school district, the assistant teacher involved, and every staff member who witnessed the abuse and did nothing.” wrote one person on X.

The outrage is understandable as the staff member was caught red-handed, any parent would rightfully want to see accountability for such unacceptable behavior, hopefully Semaj’s parents get that from the investigation.
