Donald Trump has made the outrageous claim that he could be the next Prime Minister of Israel thanks to his supposed 99% approval rating. The U.S. president threatened to run for leadership of the middle-eastern country after his second term came to an end.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday Trump claimed that a poll that morning put him at nearly perfect approval from the people of Israel. Of course he doesn’t name his source on this so I guess we’ll just have to take his word on the matter, it’s not like Donald Trump would ever lie to reporters now is it?
His apparent glowing approval from Israel prompted the president to joke (at least we hope it’s a joke) about running for Prime Minister in the country. He also claimed that Israel’s current PM, Benjamin Netanyahu, will do “whatever I want,” as per the Independent.
On X people berated Trump for his constant self-centred-ness, “Can’t stop talking about himself for five seconds… now he wants to be prime minister too,” wrote one person. “Bro already sounds more loyal to Israel than to America at this point.” added another.
Trump’s poor approval rating shows he’s losing control
Donald Trump might have high approval from Israel (if we’re to believe the president’s own words) but in the U.S. it’s a different story. Trump has a meagre 39% approval rating from American citizens. 61% do not approve of the job the president is doing so far and this is according to a Fox News poll, an outlet that typically leans in favor of Trump.
A big point of contention for many is the war in Iran. Many disapprove of the job Trump is doing in the middle east with most of the concern centering around the economic pressures in the U.S. which have been made worse by the ongoing conflict. Of course, the president has said he outright doesn’t care about the financial struggles of the everyday citizens of America so it makes sense that the measles are finally starting to wake up to his ineptitude as president.
Of course, aiding Israel will no doubt result in a higher approval rating for Trump but even so, it’s hard to imagine it genuinely being at 99%. His plans to be Israeli PM are about as realistic as his plans to run for a third term in the U.S. Realistically it’s just not going to happen, he can keep lying to himself and his followers but the truth is he’s not nearly as liked as he thinks he is.
