Woman ditches relationship drama for solo girl’s trip. Then came the chemical leak and $9k car repair

It began when a state trooper knocked on her door.

What was supposed to be a healing solo getaway to the Arizona mountains began in complete chaos for TikTok creator Not Hannah (@traphousehannah). After a grueling relationship split, Hannah says she hit the road to find some peace of mind. Instead, her journey took an immediate, stressful turn when she says she woke up to a state trooper knocking on her door.

Hoping to leave the chaos behind and continue her trip, her setbacks only multiplied when her 2011 Subaru Outback suffered a mechanical failure, leaving her stranded in the remote town of Payson, Arizona, facing a staggering $9,000 repair estimate just days before her birthday.

“I want you guys to listen to the week that I’ve had,” she began in her video, viewed nearly 100k times. According to her account, the problems started before she even left town. She said she had been talking to a man for about a year and a half and had planned to take a trip with him. She claimed the relationship ended abruptly after she asked to look through his phone and he declined.

“Up north” solo girl’s trip goes south when a state trooper knocks on her door

Afterward, she decided to take what she described as a solo trip “up north” to relax with her journal, hiking gear, and a copy of Wuthering Heights. That plan changed the following morning.

Not Hannah said she woke up at her hotel to loud knocking and discovered a state trooper outside her room. According to her account, authorities were evacuating guests because of what she described as a chemical leak in the area. “I answer the door, and it’s a state trooper,” she said. “And he’s like, you need to get out of here. We’re evacuating everybody.”

While Hannah did not share specific details about the nature of the hazardous incident, her timeline aligns with a major regional safety event. On Friday, March 20, 2026, a massive carbon monoxide leak triggered an emergency evacuation at an Embassy Suites hotel in central Phoenix, with first responders and hazmat teams clearing out half of the hotel’s 200 occupied rooms, according to local news outlet 12News.

After speaking with the officer, Hannah says she packed her belongings and headed out for the day. But while driving and talking with her mother on FaceTime, she said her vehicle suddenly began displaying multiple warning lights. “My car lights up like a Christmas tree,” she recalled.

Following her stepfather’s advice, she pulled over and began contacting towing companies. She claimed one company declined to help before ending the call. Eventually, another tow truck arrived, but she said she waited on the side of the road for about an hour.

Hannah described the experience as especially stressful because she was traveling alone in a remote area, adding that she was “having a panic attack.” The tow truck transported her vehicle to an auto repair shop in Payson, according to her account. She said the tow bill totaled about $400.

Then came the $9k repair bill

At the shop, technicians connected diagnostic equipment to the vehicle, a 2011 Subaru Outback. According to Not Hannah, she was told the system was returning transmission-related codes. She said the diagnosis was followed by an estimated repair bill of approximately $9,000.

The estimate quickly became a major topic in the comments section. One viewer wrote, “Don’t pay that bill, your car is not even worth 9k!!!”

Another commenter shared a personal experience and advised seeking a second opinion. The commenter said a local shop once told them they needed a new transmission based on fault codes, but a dealership later determined the issue was actually a defective wheel bearing. The commenter suggested having the Subaru inspected by a Subaru dealership before approving major repairs.

Not Hannah said she considered signing up for AAA and extending her stay long enough for the membership’s towing benefits to take effect. By the end of the video, she said a tow truck driver who knew her stepfather helped get her back to the hotel.

But she said the setbacks continued when the hotel restaurant she had planned to visit closed because of the chemical leak response, leaving her without the meal she had been looking forward to after a stressful day. However, her Subaru remained at the repair shop, and she found herself stranded without a vehicle just days before her birthday.
