He says he saw the Antichrist: Florida man crashes truck, then attempts to steal emergency helicopter at crash site

He then went on to resist arrest.

Florida became the center of a perplexing incident involving a driver identified as Riley Ferrer. The Florida Highway Patrol says his truck veered off the road while he was traveling northbound on I-75 shortly after midnight this past Friday. Ferrer allegedly struck another vehicle before overturning into the woods. He later allegedly tried to steal the helicopter that responded to the crash — and that’s not even the most confusing part of the story. Ferrer reportedly told authorities that the entire incident happened because of the anti-Christ.

According to Fox13, two people involved in the crash suffered serious injuries. In an effort to manage the scene and ensure the victims received urgent medical care, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office shut down the northbound lanes so a medical transport helicopter could land and evacuate the injured as efficiently as possible.

Reportedly, as fire rescue crews prepared the patients for their airlift, Ferrer ran past first responders at the scene and toward the helicopter. Authorities allege that Ferrer then attempted to hijack the aircraft but was ultimately unsuccessful.

Troopers eventually managed to place Ferrer in the back of a patrol vehicle. They then transported him to Tampa General Hospital Brooksville to obtain medical clearance before pursuing legal action in the case.

Reportedly, that process also came with its own challenges. Ferrer is said to have refused to walk into the building and required officers to physically escort him into the medical facility. Once inside the hospital, he allegedly refused to remain seated, forcing officers to restrain him in a chair until local deputies arrived.

He was eventually medically cleared and transported to the Hernando County Detention Center, where he reportedly continued to resist authorities. According to investigators, Ferrer told officers that before he lost control of his truck, he saw the anti-Christ, and that this was what ultimately caused the crash.

As the case remains ongoing, authorities have yet to provide an update on the conditions of the two victims who required an airlift from the crash scene. There is also still no clarification regarding whether Ferrer was under the influence during the incident or what his mental state may have been. Both issues will likely play a significant role as investigators build their case surrounding his alleged reckless behavior at the crash site.

At the moment, Ferrer is facing three counts of resisting without violence. He is also facing one count of burglary of an occupied conveyance. Reportedly, court records show that he is eligible for a $3,000 bond on the resisting charges, but the additional burglary charge means he will remain held without bond unless the court orders otherwise.

The story eventually spread to Facebook, where users appeared equally confused by the circumstances. One user wrote, “Why was it left unattended? The pilot wasn’t part of the medical crew, so why wasn’t he in his seat?” Another added, “I bet judges are fighting one another to preside over this case. What would he have done with the helicopter if he had actually flown away with it?”

Riley Ferrer’s court date has not yet been announced.
