A woman posted a video on TikTok showing herself recording a staff member at a hotel in Pennsylvania. The man being recorded sat slouched over with his head down as the woman claimed he was refusing to give her another hotel room key, even though she said she had minors inside her room.
The first video did not make it clear why the woman was locked out, and there was very little context for viewers to go on. But at the end of the clip, she says, “Best lawsuit I’ve ever walked.” People kept sharing the post while highlighting that comment, and two days later, the video had gone viral with more than 240,000 views.
In the caption of the original post, Molly, who posts under the username @mollytatted, gave a bit more context about her issue. She wrote that she went to a Quality Inn by Choice Hotels in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, with her three minor children, aged 1, 10, and 12. She then claimed she stepped out of the room to get bags from the car, but when she returned, her room key no longer worked.
Her story changed
The caption explained that if such a thing happens, a guest should simply ask politely for a replacement key. But in this case, Molly claimed the manager at the front desk rejected her request. She then said she called 911 so the situation could be resolved with the authorities’ intervention. She had her comments turned off, but the clip raised many questions—chief among them, why the hotel staff would deny her another room key.
She later followed up with another post, but this time her story changed. In the second post, Molly wrote that the actual issue she had with the man in the video was the condition of the room she had been assigned.
Molly posted a screenshot of her Notes app, where she wrote that the man had checked her family into a hotel room with an overflowing toilet that did not work. That prompted her and her fiancé to go downstairs and ask for a different room.
In this version of the story, it was a room change—not a replacement key—that the manager refused. She then said they asked for a plunger instead, but he refused that request as well. So she decided to call corporate in his presence to report him and get a refund. When she later returned upstairs, she found that her room key no longer worked, even though one of her children was still inside the room.
There’s no way of knowing which story is true
She then called 911, and the issue was reportedly resolved after responding officers instructed the manager to make her a new key. There is no independent clarification as to which version of events is accurate, nor has the hotel staff member publicly shared his side of the story. The only thing that is certain is that stories involving disputes between guests and hotel staff regularly capture attention online.
Molly’s comments remain turned off, so she has never had to answer viewers’ questions, even from those who spotted inconsistencies in her account. Instead, she simply moved on to posting about other topics as though nothing had happened.
