A post office owner allegedly chased a Pokemon card thief, and he threw soup in her face: ‘5-foot-1 lady, by the way! 54 years old!’

Small business owners put everything into keeping their doors open every single day. So watching someone casually steal something is enough to boil anyone’s blood. But when an Australian post office owner allegedly caught a man pocketing Pokemon cards, she proved that size and age are completely irrelevant when retail rage takes over.

In a viral TikTok video sitting at over 60,000 views, creator Anthony (@undiagnosedanthony) recounted the unhinged story of his 54-year-old, 5-foot-1 mother going full action-hero on an alleged thief. What started as a casual afternoon behind the register turned into a multi-phase physical pursuit complete with airborne soup.

The chaos began while Anthony’s mother was busy serving another customer at her post office. Out of the corner of her eye, she reportedly spotted a man grabbing merchandise and shoving it straight down his pants before bolting out the front door.

Refusing to let the alleged theft slide, the 54-year-old shop owner sprinted out into the street after him. According to Anthony, she physically grabbed the “presuming very drug-affected, scary man” by the collar and aggressively shook him while demanding he return the Pokemon cards.

“5-foot-1 lady, by the way! 54 years old!” Anthony laughed at the absurdity. The physical confrontation was so intense that the stolen Pokemon cards allegedly spilled out of the man’s pants onto the pavement.

After scooping up the loot and warning him never to set foot in her establishment again, the owner purportedly marched back to her register.

The mother launched a car chase after realizing the man stole even more Pokemon cards

However, the saga was far from over. Once back inside the store, Anthony’s mother began restocking the recovered items. But she quickly realized that the cards were not complete.

Finding the street outside now empty, she allegedly jumped into her car and began circling the surrounding blocks searching for him. Five to ten minutes later, she successfully spotted her target on the sidewalk eating a bowl of soup.

According to Anthony, his mother pulled her car over, marched up to the man, and grabbed his collar a second time. The man responded by allegedly splashing his soup directly into her face. Unphased by the liquid, she grabbed his personal bag and aggressively searched through it for the remaining Pokemon cards. 

However, she could not find the cards and decided not to put her hands in his pant pockets. So, she issued one final, ruthless warning and headed right back to work to finish her shift.

Anthony was left conflicted by his mother’s relentless pursuit

Reflecting on the wild series of events from his car, Anthony admitted he wasn’t entirely sure how to process his mother’s fearless, chaotic response. “How does that make you feel? Because for me, I’m confused, I’m proud, I’m ashamed… I feel like she’s in the right, but I feel like she’s in the wrong,” Anthony shared with his audience.

He also marvelled at how she simply carried on with her workday as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. But if the events were true, standing up for your livelihood is commendable. At the same time, no amount of merchandise is worth risking a personal injury.

If you ever catch someone attempting a quick store heist, calling law enforcement is usually the safer bet. The man who allegedly stole the cards has not yet been identified, or commented on the matter.
