KFC workers had watched her pregnancy cravings for months. What happened when she returned with her baby is melting hearts

It's all about gratitude.

KFC staffers went viral this past week after a customer walked up to the counter with her infant in a yellow onesie. The video is captioned, “POV: You used to go to KFC every day during the pregnancy.” The clip was shared by an aggregator X account under the username @HumanityChad, which focuses on sharing the positive stories that are so desperately needed on the platform.

The original post was shared on TikTok by the account @durbankingcaleb — and it was posted in 2025. In the year since, it has garnered 4.5 million views, and every couple of months, a new wave of people discovers it and has the same heartfelt reaction to the interaction.

Pregnancy journeys are uniquely marked by unexpected rituals and sometimes unimaginable cravings. For this mother in South Africa, those months of anticipation for a new life in her family included daily runs to her local KFC. Eventually, she became a fixture at the establishment, and the staff would expect to fulfill her cravings at some point during the day.

Mothers could relate

Whenever an expectant mother visits the same restaurant every day, she stops being just another face in the line. The staff at this establishment noticed her consistent visits. Quick exchanges at the cash register grew into genuine conversations — and soon, even the staff was expecting the baby.

Eventually, she had a safe delivery, but there was still one thing she had to do. She went to the outlet with her husband and infant in a yellow onesie, and the entire staff stopped what they were doing to hold the baby they had helped “nourish” for so many months.

On TikTok, KFC’s official account responded, writing, “a family restaurant for real.” Other brands were also asking her in the comments to check her DMs, as if they wanted to pursue a brand partnership. Another user suggested this is more common than people realize. She wrote, “This happened to me when I got back from maternity leave. The lady at King Pie asked me how my salami and cheese was doing.”

The trend continued on X, with users saying they, too, had a restaurant they were loyal to. One wrote, “I should’ve done this at the McDonald’s I went to every morning. It was so bad, they already had my order up on the screen by the time I made it in. I just had to pay.”

Another added, “My wife ate so many cheeseburgers I was convinced we were having a cheeseburger instead of a child lol.”

X is a platform that rarely ever prioritizes positivity, so it’s no surprise that this relatively old clip was met as a breath of fresh air on the platform. But what the video showed was how random members of society can sometimes become the community we never knew was invested in our health and well-being.

It’s all about gratitude

The video went viral not because that was a rare thing, but because mothers never quite tell us just how many people help them along their way to bringing life into this world.

All the times people get up for them on crowded subways, let them cross a queue at a coffee shop, or even just offer an understanding smile and nod — this video showed just how much gratitude can be found in all of that.
