Jessica Potter, a 33-year-old who has been navigating stage 2B Hodgkin lymphoma, recently shared a TikTok that took the internet by storm. She’d been looking forward to attending an Ariana Grande concert for months.
Unfortunately, per PEOPLE, she experienced a bad reaction to her chemotherapy treatments, and she ended up spending the Fourth of July weekend in the emergency room instead of at the show.
While she was recovering and understandably down about missing the tour, her husband Darryl stepped in and save the day in the cutest way possible.
As Jessica told PEOPLE, “We were sitting on the couch. Darryl disappeared, then tried to cheer me up and came down with this long ponytail he ordered from Amazon and the Glinda microphone. He did his performance even though he hardly knew the words.”
In the viral video, Darryl climbs onto the furniture and attempts to sing along to Ariana Grande’s hits, even though he admits he doesn’t know the lyrics. When he accidentally turns the microphone on, Jessica just can’t stop laughing. Throughout the performance, she giggles and asks him where he got the microphone and the accessory. Darryl’s enthusiastic effort resonated with over 9.4 million people.
The comments section has as many TikTokers as they have brands gushing over him
One user wrote, “where is your husband? thats ariana.” Another joked, “How did you get ariana to perform privately?” Others were equally impressed, asking, “Does he do weddings per chance” and noting, “And maybe to be loved like this is the eternal sunshine.” The love for this couple was so overwhelming that big brands even started jumping into the comments.
Expedia offered help with travel, while Garnier wrote, “the kind of love we dream about. we’d love to send a little something your way, beautiful.” Other brands chimed in with support, including Vaseline, who called out the “green flag with a ponytail sighted,” and The Cheesecake Factory, which simply advised, “DO NOT let this man go.”
The story didn’t end with the TikTok, though. As PEOPLE reported, the viral moment eventually reached Ariana Grande’s team. After r.e.m. beauty, the singer’s makeup brand, sent a direct message inviting the couple to a VIP suite at a Boston concert, Jessica and Darryl made the trip. Jessica told the outlet, “I thought that was more than enough. It was a dream come true being in the suite and seeing her.”
However, the surprises kept coming. The very next day, while they were out at dinner, Jessica reportedly received an email from Grande’s management team asking if they were still in town because they had more tickets available.
Jessica explained, “I was like, ‘There’s no way this is real.’ And it was.” PEOPLE reported that the couple rushed to the venue and ended up with front-row seats. Reflecting on the whirlwind weekend, Jessica says, “It was the craziest weekend of my life. It was honestly a dream come true. I couldn’t believe that I got to see her, not once, but twice.” In a different case, a TikToker who was worried her tickets were a scam got into the Harry Styles concert she was waiting for.
Jessica, who has used Grande’s music to get through difficult times in the past, told PEOPLE the experience felt like a movie. She is currently nearing the end of her treatment, with her last chemotherapy session scheduled for August 7, 2026. She noted that she is looking forward to her final scan in September and the chance to get back to a normal routine.
It is a beautiful reminder that even in the middle of a cancer journey, there is room for moments of pure joy and kindness. Jessica remains incredibly grateful for the experience, saying, “I’ve never had an opportunity like that, and I truly can’t even put into words how much it means to someone like me that I’m a typical fan, but when you’re going through a hard time in your life, and they did something like this, it really does mean everything to me.”
Jessic was incredibly fortunate, because for another TikToker fan, her TicketMaster tickets for an Ariana Grande concert were sold out from under her.
