STK Steakhouse serves a plate with 3 pieces of steak and 8 fries. Then the customer calls out the embarrassing presentation: ‘they didn’t even try’

The portion was much smaller than what she expected.

A customer’s video showing a small steak frites dish from STK Steakhouse has drawn attention online after she pointed out how little food was on the plate. The clip shows a close-up of the dish, along with her reaction to the portion size.

The video was posted by a creator named Cassandra, who goes by the username @xocassiee1 on TikTok. Her bio describes her content as focused on faith, fitness, and lifestyle, and lists her location as Long Island and New York City.

An on-screen text overlay in the video reads, “STK really playing in people’s face,” which set the tone for the rest of the clip.

The plate showed three small servings arranged on a rectangular dish

The video opens with a shot of a white, elongated rectangular plate placed on a dark wooden table. On the plate were three small servings of steak and fries, with each serving placed on a small green leaf. Every serving had a few golden-brown fries topped with a small piece of medium-rare steak and a dollop of yellow sauce.

Next to this plate was another white rectangular plate holding what looked like spring rolls or a similar appetizer, along with a small cup of dipping sauce on the side.

As the video continues, the camera pans out slightly to show more of the table, including a fork, a knife, and another person’s hand holding a pink phone in the background. Other diners have raised similar concerns after comparing steak portions to menu prices at other steakhouse chains.

Speaking directly to the restaurant in her video, the creator said, “STK, I know this ain’t your steak and frites because that is like 8 fries and 3 pieces of steak, bro.” She said this while pointing out how few fries and pieces of steak were on the plate.

She ended her commentary by saying, “Like, listen,” suggesting that the plate spoke for itself without needing further explanation.

The video did not show any response from STK Steakhouse, and no statement from the restaurant was included in the clip. Portion size complaints have also come up in cases involving large family-style meal orders from other restaurant chains.

The video drew a wide range of reactions in the comments section, with many viewers offering their own explanations for the small serving size.

Several commenters pointed out that the dish may have come from a discounted menu rather than the restaurant’s regular pricing. One person asked, “What do you expect for $9 an actual steak?” suggesting the price point matched the portion size.

Another user linked the small portion to a specific promotional menu, writing, “Prob bc ur ordering off the $10 happy hour menu.” This comment suggested that the dish shown may not represent a standard, full-priced order.

One commenter compared the presentation to a childhood activity, joking, “me when I played restaurant at home when I was little,” referencing how small and staged the servings looked on the plate.

A commenter who identified as a longtime customer defended the restaurant’s happy hour offerings, writing, “I’ve been going there for years and the happy hour menu hasn’t changed much. People are usually happy with it because the food is $6-$9.” This comment offered additional context, suggesting the pricing of the dish may explain its size.

Not everyone was as forgiving, though. One user criticized the effort behind the dish, writing simply, “they didn’t even try?” Someone else replied directly to that comment with a bit of dry humor, pointing out, “Well they fried tho.”
