A Texas TikTok creator says his Whataburger meal turned into an upsetting experience after he noticed what appeared to be a green substance inside one of his chicken strips. The alarming discovery quickly went viral after TikTok creator Choppedbylee (@choppedbylee) shared the discovery, prompting skepticism from some viewers and leading the creator to post a follow-up video defending the authenticity of his claim.
According to Choppedbylee’s first post, he ordered chicken strips from a Whataburger location in Humble, Texas. In his second post, he addressed critics in a second video after many commenters questioned whether the incident had been staged.
“This gonna be the only time I address this situation, bro,” he said at the beginning of the follow-up. “A lot of y’all think this is fake. This is real.”
Choppedbylee showed the receipts
To support his account, the creator displayed what he said was his Whataburger receipt, pointing out that it showed a purchase time of 1:36 p.m. He also showed that his first video began recording at 1:56 p.m., arguing that the timeline made it unlikely he could have fabricated the incident because the restaurant sits only about six minutes from his business. He also included additional footage of the meal from different angles while holding up the receipt.
The creator also claimed the incident affected him physically after he ate the chicken. He said he experienced vomiting and stomach cramps afterward and canceled several appointments that day so he could go home and recover.
The timing, he added, made the situation even more disappointing because it happened on his birthday. His original TikTok caption read, “it’s my birthday too.”
The videos sparked discussion in the comments, where many viewers offered their own theories. One comment claimed, “That’s abscess (pus) in the chicken. The chicken was infected. Sue them.”
Another commenter suggested the issue may have originated before the food reached the restaurant, writing, “It’s the chicken and the factory it came from. We can clearly see that that’s an abscess that was in the chicken. Which also is happening at regular supermarkets. It’s the factory fault Whataburger just purchased it premade.”
Neither the creator nor Whataburger publicly identified what the green material inside the chicken strip was. The company also had not publicly responded to the viral videos at the time of writing.
The claims remain unverified, and no official inspection findings or laboratory analysis have been released identifying the substance seen in the viral videos. Choppedbylee’s posts only add to a chorus of complaints about the Texas restaurant chain in recent months.
