Woman’s date is 30 mins away at noon. Then he reveals he just arrived at the barber and accuses her of being insecure: ‘no way he just said that’

“You dodged a HUGE bullet girl.”

We have all been there, waiting for someone who just can’t seem to grasp the concept of a clock. Recently, a TikToker named Linds, who goes by linds_elize on TikTok, shared a story of facing this very problem on a first date, which struck a nerve with over 6 million viewers. Her version of the story seems to feature poor planning, audacity, and gaslighting that serves as a perfect example of how not to treat a date. It should be noted that it can’t be verified.

In her video, Linds stated that she was set to meet a 34-year-old man for a date at 12:00 PM. Around 11:00 AM, she alleged the man told her, “Hey, I’m gonna go get my, uh, haircut before the date.” Linds, clearly skeptical, noted it was an “interesting choice” and wondered how the timing would actually work out. She arrived at the location at 11:45 AM, “punctual,” because, as she put it, “I’m a grown up, and I am where I say I’m gonna be, when I’m gonna be there b***h.”

Then at 11:49 AM, she claimed the man texted her saying, “Hey, I’m gonna be running a little bit behind. Um, I just got to the barber.” Linds told TikTok that he had shared his location, which revealed he was still 30 minutes away from their meeting spot. She said she waited until nearly 12:30 PM before deciding she had seen enough. She noted that she told him she was cancelling because he would be 30 to 45 minutes late and felt her time wasn’t being respected.

That is when he allegedly pivoted to an attack

According to Linds, he responded, “That’s interesting. You couldn’t even FaceTime me earlier either.” Linds then explained she was busy getting her oil changed when he called. However, she alleged that he doubled down, saying, “I just think it’s weird that you canceled on the date and you couldn’t FaceTime. I think I see what the situation is here.” When she asked him to elaborate, he claimed, “I think you just don’t feel pretty about yourself today.”

The community seemed to be pretty supportive of Linds. One user pointed out the absurdity of the timeline. They wrote, “Just got to the barber at 11:49, 30min away…dates at 12…. Brooo….” However, in a different instance, a woman cancelled her date 15 minutes before it was supposed to start when he made some concerning remarks regarding a boundary she had already established.

Another user asked if he would have actually been ready for the date. They commented, “Baby, the moment he said that he just got to the barber and it was already 11:45am, DONE! Because you’re also telling me that you’re showing up without having showered after the hair cut.” Another TikToker recently took to the platform to share that her date spent the entire night judging her, from her outfit to her meal.

Many other viewers were quick to identify the behavior as manipulation. One person noted, “He learned that manipulation tactic on one of his red pill podcasts.” Another added, “you just dodged a NARCISSIST!”

According to a time management breakdown on LinkedIn, time is the one commodity we cannot manufacture more of. When someone spends time with you, they are giving you a gift they can never get back. The core advice is simple: do what you say and say what you mean.

The expert advised that if you are going to be late or need to change plans, communicate early and often. As they suggested, being respectful of someone else’s time is built on the foundation of knowing you aren’t the only important thing on their schedule. According to the LinkedIn article, when someone consistently fails to respect your time, it is time to set boundaries.

As the advice on LinkedIn states, your time is precious. Thus, you should guard how you spend it on people who push your limits. Linds certainly did that by walking away from the date, and the community seemed to validate her decision.

One user wrote, “You dodged a HUGE bullet girl,” while another suggested, “Don’t tell them ur cancelling. Just go home & block them.” Someone else summed up the man’s deflection perfectly. They wrote, “’You just don’t feel pretty enough’ says the man who planned a haircut for his date during the date.”
