Woman buys Abercrombie & Fitch pants. She reaches into the pockets and says she found something ‘soaking wet’: ‘I’m disturbed I found a biohazard’

A woman says she found a used tampon and a tampon applicator inside the pocket of a pair of Abercrombie & Fitch jeans she had just bought. The woman, identified as Jackie, shared the incident in a video posted user TikTok username @jackieobrien88, which has been viewed more than 1 million times and received over 141,300 likes.

In the video, Jackie explains that she had just gotten home and put on the white jeans when she felt something in the pocket. “I stuck my hand in the pocket because there was something in there and I pulled out a bloody tampon and then, and then the applicator,” she said.

The TikTok caption included the phrase, “IM DISTURBED I found a BIOHAZARD in my new jeans.” The video shows Jackie trying to reach Abercrombie & Fitch’s customer service. On-screen text says the first call ended when the agent hung up after hearing about the issue.

Customer service calls did not go smoothly

Jackie is heard saying, “Hi, I just tried to call someone and they hung up as soon as I told them what my problem was, but I just bought a pair of jeans and I just got home and put them on and there was a used tampon in the pocket and then the applicator for another tampon.”

A second call is also shown in the video, marked “Call #2.” On this call, an agent can be heard saying, “There’s a blood stain on the inside of the package.” Jackie responds, “It’s not a blood stain. It is- it’s- I need you to understand, it’s a- the actual tampon, the soaking wet bloody tampon itself was in the pocket. It’s not just a stain, it’s the actual tampon that was inside someone’s vagina.” The video ends as she is still speaking.

The video also includes a photo showing Jackie holding the used tampon and applicator next to the waistband of the white Abercrombie jeans. Abercrombie & Fitch commented on the video, writing, “Hey Jackie, we sent you a DM.”

Jackie later posted a follow-up video on TikTok with the caption, “The update is there is no update @abercrombie & fitch.” In this video, she said that despite people tagging the company online and her calling multiple times, she had not received any response. “So despite everyone tagging Abercrombie, me calling multiple times, um, there has been zero response. No DMs, no funny little anything. Radio silence,” she said.

She said a representative had told her it would take two to three days to receive an email, but she added, “I thought, you know, maybe this would warrant a quicker response.” She also said she had been told she might receive a refund for the cost of the jeans but had not yet received one. Instead, she said she was emailed a 30 percent off coupon. “So far I only have the 30% off coupon that she emailed me,” Jackie said, adding that the representative had reminded her the coupon would expire.

Jackie remarked on the coupon in the video, saying, “You guys send that s–t once a month, so that’s literally nothing but cool things.” She said she would post another update if one becomes available. Such unsettling discoveries are not isolated, as when an NYC woman tried Danny Coop’s cheesesteaks and found something in her meal. 

Viewers reacted to the video in the comments section. One commenter asked, “why arent they taking it seriously?” Another questioned the decision to call customer service instead of returning the item in person, writing, “Hold on, if you bought them from the store, why are you calling them? Just take them back to the store, surely?” Some commenters said Jackie should receive compensation. One wrote, “This should be a full refund and new pants for free.”

Others questioned aspects of the claim. One commenter wrote, “That’s disgusting. But a tampon isn’t a bio hazard, you’re not gonna catch something from a used tampon unless you’re gonna use it yourself.” Another pointed out, “There’s no blood on the applicator and you’re touching it with your bare hands… something doesn’t seem right.” For the woman who bought the pants, the discovery was disturbing, as a California woman once found something alive in her Little Caesars pizza.
