Woman misunderstands a flight attendant’s snack options. Then her Dutch brother unknowingly exposes the confusion: ‘looks at me weird again’

Chocolate Pretzels vs Chocolate, Pretzels

A snack cart offer on a flight turned into a confusing back-and-forth for one traveler, and she later shared the moment on TikTok.

Posting from what looks like the inside of a parked car, Annie introduced the story as a moment she still laughs about, telling viewers, “The thing that still makes me laugh every time I think about it is this time I was on a flight and I was with my brother, he’s from the Netherlands, and the flight attendant came down to offer snacks.”

As Annie explains it, she had the aisle seat, which meant she was first when the attendant reached her row. “She looks at me and she’s like chocolate pretzels or crackers and I was like chocolate pretzels,” Annie says.

The snack order became confusing

The order quickly turned confusing when Annie realized the attendant wasn’t offering a snack called “chocolate pretzels” at all. “She looks at me confused and repeats it, chocolate pretzels or crackers, and I was like, I would like the chocolate pretzels,” Annie continues.

The exchange repeats a third time before anything clicks. “So then she like looks at me weird again and I was like what like why are you even asking me? She was like no chocolate pretzels or crackers and I was like chocolate pretzels.”

It’s only when Annie glances at the cart itself that the mix-up becomes obvious to her. “And I look in her cart and realize it’s chocolate, like little chocolates, plain pretzels or crackers. Like she’s not saying chocolate pretzels,” she says. “And I was like oh, I’ll take the chocolate then.”

The confusion gets even funnier when the attendant moves down the row to Annie’s brother. The attendant moves down the row to Annie’s brother, who hadn’t heard any of the conversation happening beside him. “She moves on to my brother who’s right next to me and didn’t pay attention to the whole thing. And she goes chocolate pretzels or crackers. And he goes chocolate pretzels.”

The clip has attracted more than 200 comments, with plenty of viewers admitting they would have made the same mistake. One commenter wrote, “I 100% would’ve also said chocolate pretzels,” while another suggested a simpler way to phrase the options: “Pretzels chocolate or crackers would have been so much easier.”

Others focused on Annie’s brother, with one commenter calling him “the cherry on top” of the whole thing.

Annie’s snack confusion isn’t the only time a simple moment involving airplane food has turned into a viral story. A passenger’s wife recently shared a similar flight story after saying a flight attendant kept his tray stocked with snack packets for the rest of a trip following his help fixing a broken bathroom fixture mid-flight.

Annie hasn’t said which airline the flight was on or when the trip happened, and the video doesn’t show the flight attendant or her brother at any point. The story is simply Annie’s retelling of a funny misunderstanding, rather than a complaint about how the snack options were presented. Other viral flight stories have involved confusion before passengers even make it onboard, including one traveler who questioned whether the vehicle waiting at the gate was actually a plane at all.
