A TikTok user known as Bonnie, who posts under the handle indigo_child.84, shared a video from inside a Burlington store after her son spotted a pair of Nike basketball shoes. In the video, Bonnie appears in a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark head covering while speaking to the camera. On-screen text in the clip reads “Should I flip?”.
Bonnie holds up the shoes, which are bright blue and orange with yellow laces, and explains what happened. She says, “So I’m at Burlington, y’all, and my son seen these shoes, and I thought that these were some Kobes based off the logo and the inside. And he looked it up on his iPad, and this what they go for, y’all. My son found the information out on his iPad.”
She points to a logo on the inside of the shoe’s tongue that looked familiar to her. The video then shows a light blue iPad screen with search results. An AI overview on the screen describes the shoes as Nike Ja 2 basketball shoes and displays a price of $1,967 linked to kickscrew.com along with an eBay reference. The TikTok video has drawn 229,300 views.
The shoes’ model and listed prices on resale sites
The article identifying the pair states the model is the Nike Ja 2 Breeze Beyond Blue. Sole Retriever lists a March 2025 release date for these sneakers. At launch, the site states that the men’s version retailed for $120, the GS size for $97, and the PS size for $82.
According to Brobible, current listings for the same model on eBay show prices between $50 and $74.99. Many of those listings appear to be for used pairs. The shoes no longer appear for sale on the main Nike website. An archived page from July 2025 via the Wayback Machine showed them listed at $84.97.
Bonnie’s video focuses on the AI-generated summary that displayed the much higher figure near $1,967. Commenters on the post noted the difference between that number and the lower prices found on resale platforms. Similar retail shoe incidents have drawn attention online, including a case of DSW calling police over Pumas.
Several viewers reacted with practical advice on checking real sale prices. One commenter wrote, “When you’re pricing things to flip (on eBay) go to the “sold” section that way you can see what things actually sold for. You can list at whatever price you want, it’s how much they sold for.” Another added, “Those are 80 bucks with the box lmao.”
Other commenters shared recent purchase details and warnings about relying on AI. One person said, “So I just but my son a pair for 80 bucks NIB, Ai isn’t a good source for getting the value of something. Let him wear them.”
A short reply urged, “Yesss get them nowww.” One more viewer advised, “Look up sold listing on eBay. You are need to see what a reseller can get not what a dealer gets.” Some commenters focused on possible defects and other ways to check the value. One wrote, “All clothes and shoes, etc., that are in Marshalls in Burlington and T.J.Maxx have flaws. We may not be able to notice them, but every single thing has a flaw.” Another suggested, “All nike have a serial number. Search nike and the number and it show you what they go for.”
The video itself ends with a close look at the blue and orange shoes on the store rack as Bonnie considers the price information her son found. Another recent store confrontation involved a Goodwill manager and shoe shaming.
The AI overview shown on the iPad in the clip also referred to a “Burst” or “Hyper Pink” colorway in its text, while the article covering the video identifies the pair as the Breeze Beyond Blue version. The on-screen price of $1,967 remains the figure Bonnie highlighted when she asked viewers about the shoes.
