‘Get out of my store’: Washington candle shop owner kicks out next-door neighbor following a 7-year alleyway dispute

'Seven years of beef over an alley'

A Washington shop owner posted a video on TikTok after a confrontation with the man who owns the building next door spilled into her store.

The clip, posted by the owner of Malicious Women Candle Co., Lacie Marsh-Carroll, in Snohomish, opens mid-argument, with her repeating, “Get out of my store now! Get out!” as she walks a man toward the exit. She doesn’t explain what led to the argument until afterward, telling followers, “Hey, misfits. Story time,” before laying out what she says is a dispute that’s been simmering since 2019.

According to her account, her shop and the neighboring building are connected by a rear alley covered by what she describes as an easement agreement, a type of property arrangement that generally allows one party continued access to another’s land regardless of ownership changes.

The alley dispute spills into the store

She says that access allows her staff to reach the dumpsters and an emergency exit, and that the man next door has long objected to it. “It’s called an easement agreement,” she says in the video. “It’s on file by the building. That means no matter who owns these buildings, if they sell whatever, that easement agreement stays in place.”

According to Lacie, the dispute had become tense enough that she’d gotten a restraining order against him at one point, though it had since expired. Things escalated when the man came into her store and began yelling at a pregnant employee. “This motherf—r felt the need to come into my store,” she says. “Start yelling at one of my pregnant ladies up front. Absof—glutely not.”

Another staffer stepped in to see what was happening, defending a coworker who was being yelled at before the shop owner got involved herself. She claims the man accused someone of smoking near a gas main, an allegation she disputes given the alley is open to foot traffic.

From there, she says he put a finger close to her face and she knocked his hand away, all while repeatedly telling him to leave. “Get the fuck out of my store! Get out!” she’s heard yelling in the clip.

According to Lacie, officers told the man she had a legal right to use the easement and issued a trespass order against him. “I got my trespass order,” she says. “He got an introduction into don’t fuck with my employees.”

The comments section has mostly sided with the shop owner, with one person joking, “Sounds like that restraining order needs renewing.”

Another wrote, “love the line ‘no one’s going to jail but me’ top tier boss right there,” while a third took a step back from the drama entirely, asking, “all this because of an alley??? Some people really are just miserable people smh.”

For Lacie, the argument was just the latest chapter in a dispute she says has been going on since 2019. After years of fighting over the alley behind their buildings, the disagreement eventually followed both of them inside her store, where being given the option to walk away wasn’t enough to end it.
