Dallas DoorDash customer noticed her pizza box wasn’t sealed, then found a slice missing: ‘Why does it look separated?’

A Dallas woman started inspecting her pizza order this week after something about the delivery didn’t look right. By the time she opened the box, she suspected someone had helped themselves to a slice before it reached her door.

The TikTok creator, who goes by ferny, opened her clip already annoyed. “I swear to god, you can’t make this s**t up,” she said, before explaining she’d ordered from Zio Al’s, a Dallas pizza spot she says is her favorite, and had it delivered through DoorDash instead of picking it up herself. That decision, she said, was “my mistake.”

Before she even lifted the lid, Ferny pointed out something missing: the box didn’t have a sealing sticker on it, something many restaurants began using during the pandemic and that several commenters said they wish had stuck around. “So then I opened it, and this is what it looks like,” she said, turning the camera toward a pizza that immediately looked off to her. “Why does it look separated?” she asked, as the slices sat unevenly with a noticeable gap where a piece appeared to be missing.

A slice missing, and a DoorDasher under suspicion

Her reaction was immediate. “B**h, you mean to tell me my DoorDash ate a slice? My DoorDasher ate a slice?” she said, still holding the box and looking it over. She said her familiarity with the restaurant was why she was so sure something had changed between the kitchen and her front door. “I order from zios all the time, and I know that’s not what the pizza looked like,” she said.

Her guess wasn’t based on proof, but the idea of a delivery driver eating a customer’s order isn’t unheard of. In one case, a dasher live-streamed himself eating the food after a disagreement over what he was owed.

Nothing in the video confirms who touched the pizza or when, and Ferny doesn’t claim otherwise. What she’s documenting is a box that arrived without a seal and a pie that looked different from what she’s used to getting from the restaurant, leaving her unsure what happened before it reached her door. Ferny’s video isn’t the first time a customer has suspected something happened to their food after it left the restaurant.

The comments section leaned into that same read. One person wrote, “Not only that, touched the whole pizza to reshape it,” reading the uneven slices as evidence the pizza had been rearranged after a piece was taken. Another went further, arguing the situation deserved more than a shrugk: “You are wildly under reacting. I would contact the Supreme Court over this s**t.” 

Commenters largely agreed with Ferny’s reaction, with the missing slice leading some to speculate about what might have happened to the pizza before it arrived. In another case, a dasher live-streamed himself eating the food after a disagreement over what he was owed.

A third commenter focused less on who was to blame and more on how restaurants could prevent it from happening in the first place, writing, “Restaurants should be required to properly seal, staple, and tape bag/box + take a picture of how they are sending the order.”

For now, there’s no indication Ferny escalated the complaint to DoorDash or the restaurant beyond posting the video, and neither party has publicly responded.
