Star Trek Into Darkness Gets Explosive New Trailer And Poster

With only a couple of months left, Star Trek Into Darkness has been slowly building some steam with new pictures and a teaser trailer over the last few weeks. We still don't know too much about the movie, which is what you'd expect from J.J. With only a couple of months left until release, Star Trek Into Darkness has been slowly building some steam with new pictures and a teaser trailer over the last few weeks. We still don’t know too much about the movie, which is what you’d expect from J.J. Abrams, but the new international trailer brings the most extensive look at the film yet, as we get a better idea of what course it will take.

For one, there seems to be some more hints at who the villain is, played by Benedict Cumberbatch. I’ll admit, I’ve barely watched Star Trek besides the first movie in this series, so I have no idea what those hints could mean. As a new fan though, it’s clear from the trailer that Cumberbatch’s character, who’s been named John Harrison, will steal the show. He oozes confidence throughout the footage we see here and makes for a pretty epic villain. I’d go as far to say that he’s almost on the same level as Heath Ledger’s Joker, at least from what we’ve seen so far.

Overall, the tone is just as dark as the previous two trailers, but there are quick glimpses of humor in there as well. On a visual level, the film looks stunning, with the best shot at the end of the trailer. Trust me, you’ll want to catch this in IMAX. The trailer also offers a hidden URL that leads to an excellent new poster, as seen below. Like in the trailer, Benedict Cumberbatch is in front and center of all the chaos around him.

With a great score and some gorgeous scenes, the trailer sells the film extremely well and if you weren’t excited before, this will definitely get you pumped up.

Star Trek Into Darkness is scheduled to release on May 17, 2013. Check out the trailer and poster below and let us know what you think of them in the comments.
