World War Z Will Be The First To Offer The Mega Ticket

It has been exceedingly more convenient for moviegoers to skip the trip to their local cinema and enjoy their movies at home, as of late. The advent of Netflix and other on video demand companies, entertainment systems with technology of the highest order, as well as the often ridiculous pricing of tickets have all been deciding factors in the number of theater attendees. In a desperate response to this, the Zombie Apocalypse flick World War Z will attempt to lure viewers to the screens by employing "Megatickets."

In a desperate response to this, the Zombie Apocalypse flick World War Z will attempt to lure viewers to the screens by employing “Megatickets.”

The Megaticket practice, conceived by Paramount Pictures, will allow buyers to see the film two days before the wide release in the theater in all its three dimensional glory. The ticket also gets you a small popcorn, a World War Z themed pair of 3D glasses, a digital copy of the movie when it comes to Blu-Ray, and a full size poster. All of the above items sound like great exclusives, but they don’t sound as nice when they come with a $50 price tag.

As more movies are utilizing 3D and IMAX (some better than others) the price of tickets has noticeably increased. An average ticket for one of these enhanced showings could cost $15, and sometimes even more. Just for the ticket alone, that is a price that pushes audiences’ limits. While these Magatickets come with some fun extras, the fact remains that Paramount is asking people to spend $50 to see their movie. Either Paramount is being astonishingly naive, or they have come up with an effective way to bring viewers back to the theater. We will find out if they were successful soon enough.

Should you choose to purchase a Megaticket for World War Z, they are available at the following establishments:

Los Angeles: Edwards Irvine Spectrum 21 IMAX & RPX

Houston: Edwards Greenway Grand Palace Stadium 24 & RPX

San Diego: Edwards Mira Mesa Stadium 18 IMAX & RPX

Atlanta: Regal Atlantic Station Stadium 16 IMAX & RPX

Philadelphia: UA King of Prussia Stadium 16 & IMAX
