The 3DS is absolutely thriving right now. Among the half dozen or so games on the console that I hope to have time to play in the next two months is Atlus’s hotly anticipated new entry in its Megami Tensei series of RPGs, Shin Megami Tensei IV.
Now, I was in fact planning to buy the game from the start, but recently an overzealous GameStop employee convinced me to plunk down $5 for a pre-order when I originally had no intention of doing so. Of course, one of my buddies ribbed me relentlessly for getting bullied into a pre-order by an aging George Costanza look-alike, to which I did not have a suitable comeback. Well, that’s all about to change: I obviously did it for the $30 of eShop credit!
That’s right, if you currently own Fire Emblem: Awakening and plan to buy Shin Megami Tensei IV, or currently own neither and plan to buy both, you’ll be getting a fat eShop check from Nintendo for thirty big ones, which you may spend however you like. You will, of course, have to register your purchases, which can be done easily enough via the Club Nintendo website: just type in those serial codes and you’re good to go.
Now, I have yet to buy very many eShop games, but loading up my eShop wallet with a whole $30 has the potential to both expose me to some great games I missed and get me on board with the eShop in general. Should I go for the cute and cuddly puzzling of Pushmo and Crashmo? Or maybe I want to get retro with Mutant Mudds? HarmoKnight always struck me as appealing too, with its Dave the Barbarian art style and rhythm-rooted gameplay.
At any rate, you’ll need Shin Megami Tensei IV before the eShop decision-making can begin, so head over to GameStop or Amazon if you haven’t already. The limited edition box set is only ten bucks extra and includes a sweet art book and soundtrack, so it’s really a win-win no matter how you choose.
