Fans of AMC’s critically-adored drama Breaking Bad can rejoice, as the first half of the series’ fifth and final season will be coming to your computer screens very shortly.
The first eight episodes of the season, which aired on AMC last summer, will be available for streaming on Netflix starting on August 2.
Viewers eager to catch up on the increasingly horrific actions of chemistry-teacher-turned-drug-kingpin Walter White will now be able quickly blow through all of the available episodes before the second half of the show’s final season premieres on AMC on August 11.
Netflix has become an increasingly popular way for people to ‘binge-watch’ all of their favorite shows, with Breaking Bad among the more popular titles available on the site. Popular long-running shows like Lost, 24, and Friday Night Lights are among the more frequently-viewed titles on Netflix, according to the company’s website, in addition to original programming like House of Cards and Orange Is The New Black.
Breaking Bad has received 29 Emmy nominations over the course of its run and is widely considered one of the greatest television shows of all time. Much of the critical praise for the show has been directed towards the performances of its two leads, Bryan Cranston as Walter White and Aaron Paul as his drug-dealing former student and current partner. Cranston has received three consecutive Emmy awards for his performance, while Paul has received two.
Walter White’s moral ambiguity as a character has ignited countless debates over whether or not he can be considered a protagonist, and fans are nervously anticipating how Vince Gilligan will leave the character now that the showrunner has confirmed that the show will tie up all loose ends and conclude definitively.
