Grand Theft Auto Online Patch Is Up For Grabs On PS3, Go Get It!

Grand Theft Auto V had the biggest launch in gaming history. It netted $800 million on its first day, and reached a billion in two more. Grand Theft Auto V had the biggest launch in gaming history. It netted $800 million on its first day, and reached a billion in two more. Yet, not even the mighty Rockstar is immune to shaky online launches – GTA V‘s multiplayer counterpart, Grand Theft Auto Online, has been suffering major issues since it went live, and until today there had been little sign of a solution in sight. Luckily, Rockstar has now completed a patch that should fix most of the major issues that have been cropping up.

Though the patch is ready to go on PS3, Xbox 360 users will have to wait a bit longer, as Rockstar is saying they’ll have the Microsoft version available “as soon as possible.”

Despite the problems plaguing the game, the launch won’t be viewed as too terrible if Rockstar’s fix is able to solve most of the problems quickly and simply. In fact, I’ve no doubt most users will forget about the whole thing once they’re happily wreaking havoc with their friends online.

Unlike the launch of SimCity, or Diablo III‘s issues, or even the recent Final Fantasy XIV online troubles, there’s literally no existing ill will towards Rockstar outside of Grand Theft Auto Online not working. In fact, it’s quite the opposite: critics and gamers alike probably couldn’t be more in love with Rockstar if they tried right now.

The triple-A juggernaut definitely deserves all the praise its been getting, and if the company is able to patch most of these issues swiftly then it will be quite the impressive feat. I’m sure they want to get this out of the way as soon as possible too, as they do have 45 years worth of ideas to start working on, after all, and the clock for GTA VI has already begun ticking.
