Seth MacFarlane’s Bordertown Receives Series Order From Fox

Multi-hyphenate Seth MacFarlane is set to expand his ever-increasing comedy empire this fall as Fox has just announced that they have given a 13-episode order to the animated Bordertown. Co-created by MacFarlane and Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann, the show will be “taking on immigration and the undergoing cultural shift” which is presently enveloping 2013 America. Sounds interesting and we have no doubt that these hot-button issues will receive an unmerciful skewing at the hands of MacFarlane and his comedic-desperados.

Set to tak place in a fictional town on the U.S./Mexico border, the show centres on the following:

“The intertwining daily lives of neighbors Bud Buckwald and Ernesto Gonzales. Bud, a married father of three, is a Border Patrol agent who feels threatened by the cultural changes that have transformed his neighborhood. Living next door is Ernesto, an industrious Mexican immigrant and father of four, who is proud to be making it in America. As Bud and Ernesto’s paths begin to cross, their families become bound by friendship, romance and conflict.”

MacFarlane’s incendiary brand of offensive and crude comedy is definitely an acquired taste (and Bordertown’s Mexican and southern stereotypes are sure to feel the sharp end of MacFarlane’s eager-to-offend sword), but his superlative track record when it comes to creating and producing successful animated fare that hits a chord with audiences is as impressive as it is impeccable; as the long-running sitcoms American Dad!, The Cleveland Show and Family Guy surely attest. It doesn’t hurt either that MacFarlane was able to impressively translate his small-screen success to feature films as his first foray into major motion pictures yielded the $500 million dollar smash-hit Ted.

Bordertown will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television and will replace the recently departed American Dad! on Fox TV’s animated schedule.
