Dwayne Johnson Will Flex His Dramatic Chops In Not Without Hope

Dwayne Johnson may just be one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. The man literally never stops working. It seems as if almost every week a new project is added to his increasingly busy plate. Not too long ago we heard that he would be starring in a supernatural/NAVY Seal flick titled Seal Team 666 and today we receive news that he'll be flexing his dramatic chops for a Not Without Hope, an adaptation of personal trainer Nick Schuyler's memoir.

Dwayne Johnson may just be one of the busiest actors in Hollywood. The man literally never stops working. It seems as if almost every week a new project is added to his increasingly busy plate. Not too long ago we heard that he would be starring in a supernatural/NAVY Seal flick titled Seal Team 666 and today we receive news that he’ll be flexing his dramatic chops for a Not Without Hope, an adaptation of personal trainer Nick Schuyler’s memoir.

Despite Schuyler’s profession, the film will not focus on anything related to sports. Instead, it will tell the story of when the trainer (who will be played by Johnson) was on a fishing trip in the Gulf of Mexico and his boat capsized, leaving him and several others stranded at sea for 43 hours without food or water. During that time they fought against hypothermia, hunger, hallucinations and everything else that comes along with an experience like that.

Though the project sounds quite different than the typical action fare that we’re used to seeing Johnson in, it could be a good opportunity for him to show that he can do more than just take names and kick ass. Not that that’s a bad thing, he’s very good at what he does and action films suit him very well, but it will still be nice to see him take on something a bit different and something with more drama than explosions and hand-to-hand combat.

Tell us, what do you think of Not Without Hope? Do you think it sounds like a good role for Dwayne Johnson, or would you like to see him stick to big blockbuster franchises? Let us know in the comments below.
