8 Minutes Of Gameplay From Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor

If one were to search for words to best describe Monolith's in-development Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor project, they'd be hard-pressed to come up with anything safe or friendly-sounding. In fact, they'd probably want to use words like, "edgy," "mature," "brutal," and even "badass." You'll see why in a moment.

If one were to search for words to best describe Monolith’s in-development Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor project, they’d be hard-pressed to come up with anything safe or friendly-sounding. In fact, they’d probably want to use words like, “edgy,” “mature,” “brutal,” and even “badass.” You’ll see why in a moment.

This calendar day marks the release of the first gameplay video for Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor, which comes in at a surprising eight minute length. Throughout its run-time, the game’s newly-crated protagonist, Talion, is shown infiltrating orc camps, in an effort to take out (or brainwash) them. Yes, Middle Earth’s newest character is able to bend enemies to his demands, using wraith powers, which strike fear deep inside of important targets. Through that, he’s able to scare them into doing his bidding, as you’ll see below.

While watching this footage, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the game’s procedurally-generated enemies, as well as how much the wraith powers play into things. That, plus the brutal combat system and mature nature of the game. See, there are those words again.

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor does not have a release date as of yet, but we do know that it’s planned for PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4.
