Jennifer Lawrence May Reunite With David O. Russell For Mother of Invention

David O. Russell has found a muse in red hot actor Jennifer Lawrence, who brought feisty energy and wit to her scene-stealing turns in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. It's no surprise that Lawrence, despite being one of busiest and demanded stars of the moment, is sticking by Russell and wants to work with him again (after all, he did help her land two Oscar nominations). Now, The Hunger Games star is in talks for the biopic Mother of Invention, with a screenplay from Russell and Bridesmaids scribe Annie Mumolo.

David O. Russell has found a muse in red hot actress Jennifer Lawrence, who brought feisty energy and wit to her scene-stealing turns in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. It’s no surprise that Lawrence, despite being one of busiest and in demand stars of the moment, is sticking by Russell and wants to work with him again (after all, he did help her land two Oscar nominations). Now, The Hunger Games star is in talks for the biopic Mother of Invention, with a screenplay from Russell and Bridesmaids scribe Annie Mumolo.

Mother of Invention will tell the story of American inventor and entrepreneur Joy Mangano, a Long Island single mother of three who became a millionaire through products like the Miracle Mop and Huggable Hangers. Lawrence is in talks to play Mangano, who is currently an adored businesswoman and presenter on the Home Shopping Network. Although Mangano was in her mid-thirties when the Miracle Mop became a sensation and Lawrence is only 23, the Oscar-winning actress has shown an impressive range, starring opposite leading men more than 15 years her senior (Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook, Christian Bale in American Hustle).

It could be a while until Mother of Invention gets going, though. If Lawrence signs on, she still has to wrap filming on Mockingjay – Part 2, the final chapter of the Hunger Games franchise. She also is reported to reunite with director Gary Ross for two projects based on acclaimed novels: East of Eden and Burial Rites.

As for Russell, he is currently doing a rewrite on the rags-to-riches tale that Mumolo wrote. Considering the excellent work he did in expanding Eric Warren Singer’s blacklisted script for American Hustle (a big contender in the Best Original Screenplay category at the Oscars), this rewrite could be very rewarding. Interestingly, Russell and Lawrence were set to work together on a drama called The Ends of the Earth after American Hustle wrapped, but that projects has seen little development. Hopefully this one will get moving a bit quicker.
