Zachary Quinto Joins Hitman Sequel Agent 47

In a bit of odd casting news, Zachary Quinto is now set to board the Hitman sequel Agent 47. It's been seven years since the first film hit theatres and though it earned pretty terrible reviews, Fox is still bringing us a follow-up, because when your film makes $100M, why not? Unlike the original, however, it will be Rupert Friend (replacing Paul Walker) in the lead role, not Timothy Olyphant.

Commercial director Aleksander Bach will make his directorial debut with Agent 47 from a script written by Skip Woods and Michael Finch (who penned the original Hitman). Unfortunately, we don’t have any story details to bring you just yet but I imagine that it will pick up shortly after the events of its predecessor.

While I do enjoy the video games that serve as the source material here, the first Hitman wasn’t a very impressive piece of work. It had its moments of fun but like most video game adaptations, it was a bit of a dud. Quinto, and Friend for that matter too, are decent actors and if the sequel has a script that’s as incoherent and messy as the first one, I don’t see why they’d bother lending their talents. Then again, everyone needs to eat, so who knows?

Tell us, do you care to see a Hitman sequel? Are you happy with the cast that’s been put together for Agent 47 so far? Let us know in the comments section below.
