Harrison Ford Might Reprise His Role In The Blade Runner 2

Deadline is reporting that Alcon Entertainment has made an offer to Harrison Ford to reprise his role of Rick Deckard for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel, which Ridley Scott will direct. Set to take place several decades after the original, details are scarce on the Hampton Fancher and Michael Green-penned script. There's no word on how Deckard would factor into things, or how large a role he would play, but this is still very exciting news indeed.

There’s no word on how Deckard would factor into things, or how large a role he would play, but this is still very exciting news indeed.

Of course, the big question is will Ford return? Though his involvement in the sequel has always been hazy at best, I’m inclined to believe that he might be reprising his role here. Alcon sent out a press release announcing that they’ve made an offer to him, which is kind of an odd move, and one that I don’t think they would make unless they already knew his answer.

It’s also important to keep in mind that Ford has been keen on making a return to the franchise, saying in the past that if the script was good enough, he would do it:

“I’m quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner if in fact the opportunity would exist to do another, if it’s a good script I would be very anxious to work with Ridley Scott again, he’s a very talented and passionate filmmaker. And I think it would be very interesting to revisit the character.”

So, there you have it. A good deal of evidence pointing towards the actor returning to yet another one of his classic characters. With the offer now out, I imagine it’s only a matter of time before we hear Ford’s answer, and when we do, we’ll be sure to let you know.
