Yes, you read that right, and no, it’s not April Fool’s Day. FX has just cast Courtney Love in a multi-episode arc on the final season of its hit motorcycle drama, Sons of Anarchy.
Love will be playing Ms. Harrison, the pre-school teacher of Jax’s (Charlie Hunnam) son, Abel. Her character will take a special interest in Abel, who will probably be in serious need of some extra love and care after Tara’s (Maggie Siff) death. Abel’s biological mother, Wendy (Drea de Matteo), will presumably be back in the picture and may not be interested in competing with another female for her son’s attention.
Although Love has been in the news more for her shocking life choices than anything else over the years, the former “Hole” front-woman isn’t new to acting. She starred in Man on the Moon opposite Jim Carrey and earned a Golden Globe nomination for The People vs. Larry Flint. Her appearance on Sons of Anarchy will mark her television drama debut.
The network recently cast shock rocker Marilyn Manson for a recurring role as white supremacist prison shot-caller on the upcoming season. Kurt Sutter, creator and showrunner, also announced that Justified‘s Walton Goggins will be returning as fan favorite character Venus, a transgender prostitute.
Sons of Anarchy returns to FX for its final season this fall, with Love making her debut in episode four.
