2K Games has officially announced that its targeted late October release date for WWE 2K15 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has been pushed to November 18th domestically and November 21st internationally. This comes as disappointing news for gamers and wrestling fans alike, but it isn’t too uncommon for the first entry of a franchise in a new generation of consoles to not have its launch date align with its last generation counterparts. More work is often required thanks to the new technology.
What is interesting, though, is that the game will indeed still be releasing on October 28th for the systems of yesteryear, which is surprising because there hasn’t really been a settlement to the real-life lawsuit that CM Punk hit WWE headquarters with a few weeks ago. If any version of WWE 2K15 with Punk in it is made available in stores, then it is possible that the WWE will be looking at far more serious legal matters than paying royalties.
2K did make a statement on the delay, and you can read it below:
“Visual Concepts and Yuke’s are committed to delivering the most authentic and action-packed WWE experience to date, including release for the very first time on next-generation consoles,” said Greg Thomas, President, Visual Concepts. “The additional development time enables our talented teams to ensure the WWE 2K15 next-gen experience fully meets our expectations.”
Once again, the new release date for WWE 2K15 on current generation consoles is November 18th domestically and November 21st internationally. Yes, that is also the day that Far Cry 4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, and Grand Theft Auto V will be released. It goes without saying that 2K probably could have picked a better launch date here, don’t you think?
