On Monday we brought you the news that Pierce Brosnan was attached to star in Urge, as a drug designer. Now we’ve news of who exactly he’ll be peddling them to, as Twilight‘s Ashley Greene has joined the cast.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and revealed exactly what the project will entail for Greene, as she’ll be heading up the pic in the lead female role as Teresa:
The story revolves around Theresa (Greene) and her group of friends who escape on an island destination weekend and find themselves unable to resist trying a new designer drug. The drug appears to be perfect. However, the group discovers its one major side effect: It makes people lose the ability to control their urges.
The film’s director, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and Chef producer, Aaron Kaufman, spoke out about his new leading lady:
“Ashley Greene brings the gravitas and intensity that the role of Theresa demands,” Kaufman said. “I am very excited to collaborate with her.”
Greene broke out with a role in The Twilight Saga as the pre-cog vampire, Alice Cullen. She followed that commitment up with roles in Zach Braff’s Wish I Was Here and the soon-to-be-released zombie comedy, Burying The Ex. In Urge, she’ll be performing alongside Brosnan, who’s slated to play the man who creates the urge-resistant designer pharmaceutical. Hopefully this will be the movie that extends her the same acting opportunities her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart has been offered in recent years. Greene’s got the chops to tackle the dramatic and the action-packed, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Urge is due to begin shooting this month in New York.
