The Stakes Are High In Season Finale Of Bering Sea Gold: Under The Ice

As the fourth season of the Discovery Channel’s Bering Sea Gold: Under The Ice draws to a close, the popular show demonstrates how the pressure in this already dangerous environment increases, with time running out for the winter dredging season. From the creators of The Deadliest Catch, the reality series documents the daily operations of the dredging fleet of Nome, Alaska, and has featured a number of independent crews working to find gold in freezing waters, beneath sheets of Bering Sea ice. It has explored this little-known profession, and the motivations of the people that undertake it – while cataloguing the complex and often fraught relationships within and between the different crews.

It’s been a fascinating ride, but as the season finale approaches, the Discovery Channel have released a brief sneak peek hinting at a closing rush of drama and adrenaline – with our favourite crews struggling to fit as much dredging into the end of the season as they can, while their desperation poses threat to life and limb. The official synopsis from the Discovery Channel for the season closer is as follows:

“Life isn’t easy for the gold dredgers in the frontier town of Nome, Alaska. But that doesn’t stop them from hunting gold in one of the world’s most inhospitable places – the bottom of the frozen Bering Sea, beneath four feet thick sheets of ice. The winter dredging season is coming to a close and the crews are scrambling to top last year’s record-setting gold haul. But, will they be able to put their personal battles aside and find more treasure?”

The season finale of Bering Sea Gold: Under The Ice airs on Friday October 10 at 9pm ET/PT on the Discovery Channel.
