With production on the anticipated sequel gearing up to begin next month in New Mexico, we’ve now learned of another new addition to the cast of Maze Runner: Scorch Trials. Game Of Thrones star Nathalie Emmanuel has signed on as the leader of a new group facing the world outside the maze.

For the sequel, which will follow James Dashner’s second novel in the series, Emmanuel will be joining returning cast members Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. The original trio shall once be thrown into the perils of a world ravaged by destruction after escaping the maze. In the follow-up, the main group, dubbed ‘Gladers’, will come across bands of similarly-fated people who’ve survived different mazes.

Emmanuel will be leading the charge on one new cluster as a girl named Harriet, who’s slated to also appear in the third instalment. If that’s the case, the actress will reunite with another Game Of Thrones cohort for the final two movies in the Maze series. Aiden Gillen, aka Littlefinger, has signed up to play main villain, Rat-Man, whose part also extends into the final feature. Due to the convoluted and expansive nature of GoT, the pair have yet to share any screen time on the medieval series; so maybe their paths with finally cross!

Original director Wes Ball is back at the helm for this outing, and is clearly having a wild time enlisting fresh blood for the middle part of the series. As well as the two GoT alums, we’ve also learned in the last month that Giancarlo Esposito, Rosa Salazar and Jacob Lofland have all nabbed roles. The mixture of established names and up-and-comers is a trend that began with the original movie released earlier this year, and one that we’re excited to see continue.

Maze Runner: Scorch Trials is set for release on September 18th, 2015.
