Despite its Summer 2016 release date still a long way off, apparently we may be getting a Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice trailer sooner than you think. According to a source over at Batman On Film, the first teaser will be making its appearance before the year is out.
The report goes on to cite an insider on the Warner Bros. superhero caper who’ll probably wind up getting hit with a lawsuit if they’re not careful. This unnamed source has it on good authority that the teaser will most likely be attached to a big release in November or December.
Now, rack your brains kiddies, because it seems like there’s one major contender for that duty: New Line Cinema, a subsidiary of Warner, has the final Middle Earth instalment, The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies, set for release on December 17th 2014.
Again though, this is pure conjecture at this stage. There’s been no official announcement that the trailer is actually completed, even though BoF also made mention that it is “ready to go.”
With the movie scheduled to arrive in theatres in a year a half, it’s understandable that a teaser will hit with plenty of advance warning. But this early? Gut instincts on this one suggest that “peer pressure” may be at the source of the alleged rumour. After yesterday’s leaked Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer, Marvel buckled – with the choice meta-phrase “Dammit, Hydra” – and posted the official version a whole week ahead of its intended debut.
Now, regardless of whether or not BoF‘s source is legit, it does sorta make sense. If the trailer’s finished, do Warner really want to risk it also being leaked? Or hurry up and get it into the public domain? Only time will tell on this one.
