New Holiday Clip For Wild Card Embraces A Bloody Good Christmas

Seeing as we're in the thick of the holiday festivities, Lionsgate have delivered their season's greetings via a special promo clip for their upcoming actioner, Wild Card. Don't be fooled, though. While the video has a holiday-themed edge - soundtracked by White Christmas - it's not pulling any punches. If anything, it's dishing out more as Jason Statham wipes the floor with a bar-load of baddies. It's a cheeky teaser for the film as a whole, which arrives early next year.

Storywise, Wild Card revolves around Jason Statham’s badass Vegas bodyguard, Nick Wild. His deadly prowess comes to the fore after one of his best friends is killed by a local thug, and he commits to tracking down the assailant, who turns out to be the son of a mafia kingpin. It hits all the pertinent points required for a kick-ass Stath-fest, and with a script from William Goldman, it might be packing just as much brains as brawn.

As seems to be the case this year, a clutch of movies have piggybacked on the spirit of Christmas to post holiday-centric trailers. It’s a nifty spin to spice up the endless stream of standard previews. This year’s stand-out holiday promo came in the shape of Taken 3′s “12 Skills Of Christmas” video; replacing the traditional 12 Days Of Christmas jingle with Bryan Mills’ particular set of skills.

You can catch Wild Card when it opens on January 30th, 2015 in theaters and On Demand.

Nick Wild (Jason Statham) is a Las Vegas bodyguard with lethal professional skills and a personal gambling problem. When a friend is beaten by a sadistic thug, Nick strikes back, only to find out the thug is the son of a powerful mob boss. Suddenly Nick is plunged into the criminal underworld, chased by enforcers and wanted by the mob. Having raised the stakes, Nick has one last play to change his fortunes…and this time, it’s all or nothing. From two-time Academy®Award-winning writer William Goldman (Best Original Screenplay, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 1969; Best Adapted Screenplay,All the President’s Men, 1976).
