With David Ayer’s Suicide Squad film gearing up for production, plot details are starting to spill out. We’ve already heard about what the script might involve, and now we’re hearing another intriguing tidbit of information, and that’s that The Caped Crusader himself may have a role.

Forbes is reporting that Bats will have an “in-story scene” at the end of the movie and it will have something to do with the Joker, likely in the hopes of setting him up as an antagonist for future Batman films. After all, Ben Affleck’s first solo outing as the iconic superhero is said to be inspired somewhat by Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns comic book series, which does feature the Joker.

Now, while this does sound very likely and definitely plausible, I wouldn’t get too excited just yet. Suicide Squad is still in the early stages of development, and not only can things easily change, but some of these plot details might be from older drafts of the script.

However, as I said, it doesn’t seem too crazy to think that Warner Bros. would try to include Batman in the Suicide Squad movie. After all, Marvel characters frequently crossover between films as a way to set up future story arcs, so it’s likely that WB is trying to do something similar here. It does kind of make sense, too, what with the Joker being involved in Suicide Squad and Batman’s first solo effort (in this new DCUU, at least) said to be based off, in part, Miller’s Dark Knight Returns.

All that being said though, nothing is certain right now, and while its certainly an intriguing prospect, and an exciting one as well, all we can do right now is speculate.

We’ll of course let you know once we receive any kind of official confirmation on Batman’s appearance, but until then, let us know in the comments section how you think The Caped Crusader might factor into Suicide Squad.
