Guillermo Del Toro’s Justice League Dark Lineup Revealed?

We may know the (tentative) plans for the DC Comics film slate that stretches from now until 2020, but one adaptation in particular is still a mystery: Guillermo del Toro's Justice League Dark. The movie - which focuses on the more supernatural side of the world inhabited by the likes of Superman, Batman and the "proper" Justice League - doesn't yet have an official greenlight from Warner Brothers, but del Toro is hard at work on writing the script.

We may know the (tentative) plans for the DC Comics film slate that stretches from now until 2020, but one adaptation in particular is still a mystery: Guillermo del Toro’s Justice League Dark. The movie – which focuses on the more supernatural side of the world inhabited by the likes of Superman, Batman and the “proper” Justice League – doesn’t yet have an official greenlight from Warner Brothers, but del Toro is hard at work on writing the script.

Last we heard, the director had turned in his first draft and was awaiting further word from the studio. Now, thanks to Latino-Review scoop guru El Mayimbe, we may just have an idea of which characters we’ll see if the film ever materializes:

John Constantine is the centerpiece of the team, so his inclusion was expected. Zatanna, Jason Blood (the human vessel of Etigran the Demon) and Deadman were predictable members as well, but I’m more concerned about the absence of Swamp Thing and The Spectre. This doesn’t mean that they won’t be in the film, of course, but it’s a noticeable detail for anyone familiar with the source material.

Of course, this is just a rumor for now, so make sure to take it with the requisite grain of salt. Regardless of its validity, it’s still nice to hear some talk of the ambitious adaptation. I’d hate for this project wind up being just another of del Toro’s exciting ideas that falls by the wayside (yeah, I’m looking at you, Hellboy 3).

Tell us, are you happy about this potential lineup? Or were you hoping some other Justice League Dark characters would make the cut? Let us know in the comments.
