As the opening voiceover sends out a caution, the trailer hops to a variety of shots presumably snagged from the entire season. One of the obvious detriments to watching a video snapped on a cell phone is that the lighting isn’t exactly optimal. So, certain scenes may require a keen-eyed aficionado of George R.R. Martin’s novels to pinpoint new characters and locations. However, there’s still a ton of eye-catching imagery and killer one-liners dotted throughout.

Some highlights include: the duplicious Littlefingers advising Sansa to “avenge them,” another wedding (hopefully sans blood), Tyrion donning the shaggiest, dirtiest beard in the series so far, Daenerys delivering a menacing line of dialogue (“I’m not going to stop the wheel… I’m going to break the wheel”), Cersei well, being evil as usual and Prince Oberyn’s offspring, the Sand Snakes.

Arguably, the biggest hints for the season stem from a scene that crops up intermittently between Varys and Tyrion during which the pair converse about the next leader of the seven kingdoms. Their chat turns to who that should be – with a flash of Daenerys’ face suggesting that she is moving one step closer to the Iron Throne.

According to the series’ showrunners, season 5 of Game Of Thrones is expected to merge two of Martin’s novels – A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons – into one coherent narrative. It all begins on HBO on April 12th.
