Fresh after explaining the design choice behind the film’s atypical, crossguard-styled lightsaber, director J.J. Abrams has offered up new details on the IMAX scenes — or rather, scene — in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

During his recent interview with Collider, the filmmaker revealed that while the large-screen format is the perfect fit for this brand of galactic adventure, the technology only has a very small part to play in the feature itself. Here’s what Abrams’ had to say on the matter:

“It’s really one sequence, so it’s not a ton [of IMAX footage], but it’s a good sequence.”

Now comes the fun part of speculating exactly what scene will be (or indeed has been) using the IMAX camera. Given the image that the studio Tweeted out back when news of an IMAX scene was first announced, it seems safe to assume that the dazzling shot of the Millennium Falcon from the trailer is the scene in question. After all, what better way to reintroduce the beloved craft after so long than to project it in the biggest resolution possible?

Further in the interview, Abrams went on to discuss his own future in Disney’s franchise. Given that the director has only signed on to helm The Force Awakens, many had assumed that he would move on to pastures anew when the much-anticipated film makes its bow in December. However, Abrams confirmed that he wills serve as executive producer on both Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII and Episode XI, which were recently given release dates for 2017 and 2019, respectively.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is due to blast into theaters on December 18. In the meantime, tell us, is there a particular scene that you would like so see projected in the IMAX format? Give us your thoughts below.
