A new batch of stills from Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot have found their way online today, giving us our first real look at several of the film’s costumes, individual shots of the titular heroes, and Tim Blake Nelson before he makes his transition into the villainous Mole Man.

There’s not much to take away from these images that wasn’t already gleaned from the first trailer, but honestly, it’s just nice to see that 20th Century Fox has stopped shrouding Fantastic Four in a cloak of frustrating secrecy. With awards season now over and the summer blockbuster season just around the corner, this is probably just the first of many new glimpses at what Trank and company have in store for Marvel’s titular super family.

Honestly, I do like what we’ve seen from the film so far. This will very much be an origin story, so the lack of superhero costumes makes perfect sense, and I like how Trank found a way to ground the outfits in a realistic, scientific way. Kate Mara’s gloves will likely help with her forcefield abilities, while Michael B. Jordan’s suit looks like it can hold up to high temperatures when he flames on. Furthermore, close examination of Miles Teller’s suit shows that the sleeves appear folded and intricately layered, which will help with his stretching abilities. It’s a shame that we still have yet to see Jamie Bell’s character as The Thing, but I’m guessing that’s because the CGI isn’t quite ready yet.

Fantastic Four hits theaters on August 7th, 2015. In the meantime, tell us, what do you think of these costumes? Do they work for you, or would you rather see something more traditional and superhero-y? Let us know in the comments below.
