Entertainment Weekly has revealed four new Game Of Thrones-centric covers to accompany their latest issue. Each displays a single character from HBO’s fantasy smash to accompany the massive 30-page spread on all things Thrones.
Up first is Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark, who we last saw setting sail for Braavos. Her stylistic shift hints at a new era for the pint-sized lass who will be facing a different type of challenge in the upcoming season. Williams herself offered this comment on Arya’s new look to the trade outlet:
“It’s very neutral, very plain, but clean! I have clean hair that actually moves. I came onto the set and nobody recognized me.”
Next is Emilia Clarke as the mother of dragons Daenerys Targaryen, spotted in the most recent trailer seething and stomping around her chambers threatening to off the top dogs of Westeros. Kit Harington’s Jon Snow and Peter Dinklage’s long-suffering Tyrion Lannister head up the final two covers. The fifth stream of episodes will be based on George R.R. Martin’s seminal best-selling series A Song Of Ice And Fire. As the show closes in on the written storylines, producers are gearing up for some intriguing onscreen unions, as David Benioff explained to EW:
“Worlds are colliding. One of the things we’ve been most excited about from the beginning of the series is we’ve had all these far-flung story lines across Westeros and Essos which almost never cross. Now some of these characters start to head on a collision course for each other.
Audiences will now be offered a variety of new ways to catch season 5 of Game Of Thrones when it returns to HBO next month. Its recent deal with Apple now enables fans who have “cut the cable cord” to sign up for HBO Now; a standalone service that provides access to all of HBO’s content for $15 a month.
